The Big One
We're hunkering down for the day since we are expecting some kind of a blizzard. We've gotten one alert after the other warning us of "danger to life and property". To commemorate the event I dug out my snowman rug to work on. I didn't realize that it was almost done.
What I suppose I'll be doing the most of today though is wrapping myself up in my snowflake quilt and reading. My library book is about the blizzard in Nebraska that killed hundreds in 1880. I bright this home before Christmas never expecting it to have any relevance but here we are. I picked it up because one of my favorite childhood books was The Long Winter from the Little House series. I loved it so much that I bought a copy during the lockdown just for the warm fuzzies it gave me in a time when warm fuzzies were hard to come by.
And...I took my new bag out for some knit walking down by the water yesterday during the calm before the storm. It was cold but sunny so we enjoyed getting out while we could. I've already warned The Mister that there won't be any major shoveling of our very long driveway anymore at our age. We can wait it out.
Enjoy your snow day!! I had forgotten about your snowman rug - so cute.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you've got plenty of things to keep you warm and occupied. But I'm wondering if you rushed to the grocery store for bread, milk, and eggs? That's what everyone does here the minute a snowflake is sighted.
ReplyDeleteDid your storm appear? It missed us completely, just the bitter cold and wind came to us which is just fine. That snowman rug is just too cute. Our entire condo is decorated with snowment right now.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
We've got over 10 inches now with more on the way. A bit much for even me.
DeleteI did love the Long Winter, too. Enjoy. Glad you got the walk in while you could! Not shoveling is a good, healthy choice!
ReplyDeleteThat little snowman is sooooo cute!
ReplyDeleteMy brother was supposed to come down on the weekend but got snowed in (he's three hours north of us), so out gathering has been shifted to this weekend.
It's a ritual here too. Mostly I had to make sure I had enough critter food. Running out is not an option with this mob.
ReplyDeleteStay safe! I'm hoping your power stays on and you have plenty of treats.
ReplyDeleteThe rug looks wonderful. I hope you were able to finish it off. I love the Little house on the Prairie books.
