And Piles to Go Before We Sleep

Once a week we head out to tackle the leaves. This is week number four in the battle.

We use all the resources we have: the blower, the mower and the rakes. Yesterday The Mister decided we would rake them into piles and then drag them away on a tarp. I lasted five tarp fulls and......

....then got out the mower with the leaf attachment. Raking wasn't hard work. The leaves are dry and very light. It was just mind numbingly boring. I had most of the yard done in no time while he fooled around making piles.

It was a beautiful day and I had a good time. Seeing that there are still plenty of leaves still up there it's a good thing I'm enjoying all this. Let's just hope the weather holds.

We also got the outside kitty huts wired up for heat. It's still a bit warm out to fully enclose them which is good because it takes them a while to feel comfortable in them. I was very happy to see the elusive (spayed) mommy kitty jump out of her hut yesterday morning. I always sleep better when I know they are safe and warm at night. I wish they would come in but they won't so this is the best I can do.

Speaking of safe and warm, my reward for all that hard work was to build myself my first little fire of the year after dinner and sit outside and enjoy the beautiful night. It's been a long time since it was nice enough to venture out at night.

  1. Your sweet little campfire looks so nice. I wish I could sit around it with you and throw the cares of the world away.
You are so good to take care of all of the kitties. Even providing them heated rooms for the winter.
Loved the photo of you driving the lawn tractor! :-)
Thank you for your sweet comment yesterday. It really meant a lot to me.
    Blessings,

  2. Perfect weather to rake up leaves! Keep up the good work! It's funny that we have to wait for Fall and Winter to be able to sit outside with a campfire! lol

  3. I helped Mom with the leaves while Dad was away hunting. It was a big job - especially considering Mom and Dad don't actually have any trees - it's all from their neigbours!

  5. It has been the most beautiful fall and I am trying to make the most of each day. I know these wonderful days will not last much longer. Love the photo of you on the mower. I think you should have a contest to caption that photo.

  6. Raking is a huge job! We are holding off until the weekend as there are still more leaves coming down in our back yard. We use the rack the pile on to sheets and drag to the curb method. We don't have blowers or a mower that scoops them up so... At least the weather is supposed to be great! Thanks for posting!
