Seeing Spots

Daughter has been sending me material she wants me to make her masks out of. She's been keeping me busy.

I was feeling pretty good about them. I've been getting better at making them. I thought......

...until she sent me a photo of her face covered in spots. Black spots. After wearing her new mask all day in the cold ice rink it seems the spotted backing material I had used rubbed off on her. She thought it was hilarious. I thought it was terrible. I was so anxious to get them made and sent off to her I had forgotten to wash the material first. What a rookie mistake.

I won't make the same mistake with the masks she's asked me to make for her ice skating team as holiday gifts. It's already washed and ready to go.

  1. That kitty mask! It's perfect for her isn't it? I like the skating material too.
I probably should make a few more masks too but I keep hoping the vaccine will get here and we won't have to live like this anymore.

  2. I think your daughter sounds like such a sweet person with a great sense of humor! I sewed up a few seasonal masks for my son and his girlfriend and sent them off this past week - snowmen, nutcrackers and snow-covered trees. Yes, my mask-making skills have improved as well - I've been using older pillowcases as the backing that will actually touch the face and it seems to be pretty comfortable. I'll be thankful for the time we can stop sewing these.

  3. Lol. That's too funny! That car fabric is cute. I think Mom has a chunk of that in her stash.

  4. Sigh. The mask is adorable and won't do that after she washes it!

  5. Your daughter is beautiful. I got a kick out of the spots from the mask. I'm sorry for the loss of your beloved cat. It's been a terrible year. ((hugs)), Teresa :

  6. You gave her home-made measles! They are so cute and will be fine after a washing, I'm sure. That's very nice of you to make her some.
