Blue Angels

I have stitched the bottom four rows of the blue dress on that angel three times. Three. Times. I have had to pick it all out and redo it over and over because the blue I had stitched on last December doesn't seem to match any of the blue I have left.

My blue was gone. Almost all of my colors are gone now.

I used the blue from the first kit I bought from Ebay and it was too dark.

I used the blue from the second kit I bought off Ebay and it was too light. I suppose the next step is to pick all the blue out, pick one blue and stick with it. I am really not happy about that but there's nothing else left to do. Grrrr......it's going into time out until I can deal.

I might as well confess that in a post about my disdain for stitching kits, I have bought yet another kit.

My reward for getting this one done by 2017 was to buy myself this awesome sampler all about needle crafts. I love it but all the same, I am looking very suspiciously at that floss.

  1. Oh my .... that month by month kit is very frustrating with its floss issues.

I've started switching out the kit floss for my own floss with almost all the kits I buy.

  2. What about putting one contrasting line, lets say red, and then finish with darker blue. May that help?

  3. Dresses are often two-toned! Use either thread and just get it done. It will look ethereal no matter what! (And note, you are into Dec ahead of schedule!)

  6. Maybe you angel can have a two-colour dress - the bodice in blue and the skirt in another colour.

  7. What about making the skirt a different color entirely? You deserve the new kit, yes I am an enabler.

  8. Yikes! Ripping out cross stitch is almost as bad a frogging mohair. Make the skirt another color; it's your project and there are NO cross stitch (or knitting) police. I love watching your progress on this and the reminder to me that I have more than one that've been in the works for way too long. Your new kit is beautiful!
