Sheep Day Part 2

I went alone again this year so I could really get into shopping. I think I fondled every cone of weaving yarn in the place.

Ditto for the fiber. I need fiber. My stash is pitiful at the moment.

The basket was full by noon so I used one of my plastic bags to sit on and take inventory in a relatively dry spot on the hill where they shear the sheep.

First I bought fiber from Frabjous Fibers. That's Polwarth in Green With Envy and BFL in Kaleidoscope.

For next year's shawl I picked this Merino in the Rose colorway from Flying Goat Farm.

My sock yarn is Blue Moon's Socks that Rock in the Plumpy Sun Angel (?) colorway and Miss Bab's 2017 fest colorway which is Inner Harbor.

Needles came next. I had it in my head I was going to cast on and sit and knit but it was too cold and windy. I had a terrible headache by the time I left which was around 2.

In spite of some pretty outrageous prices, I didn't leave the fleece sale empty handed. I came home with Amelia. She is a small bag of reasonably priced Jacob. I am going to wash and dye her for this year's Tour de Fleece and if the fiber god's are willing, she will be socks. I love Jacob socks.

Finally, I've got a brand new rug pattern I bought from Etsy that I am excited about so I picked up some red and pink wool for turning into strips for hooking.

Before I left I tried to get some spinning done on my chilly hill but the wind kept blowing the fiber away. That's the beginning of next year's shawl, I hope. It's going to be light and lacy so I've got my fingers crossed for better weather. It's been wet and miserable for two years in a row now so I think we must be due. 364 days and counting.......

  1. Oh it sounds like you had a have a marvelous time in spite of the weather. Just look at all those goodies that you found. I would love to run my hands through all of that fiber too. That doesn't sound very nice does it, but that's what Yarn addicts do! Here's to next year! Blessings, Betsy

  2. Beautiful yarns and fibers. I think you were very restrained in your purchases - lol. Makes me wish I had gone, but glad I missed the crappy weather.

  5. You did good!! I think you should have enough to keep you busy for a while. The fleece prices last year were pretty outrages too but I managed to get a really nice one that I'm still working on. If the weather was anything like last year I'm amazed you could sit and spin at all. Love that rose colorway!

  7. Oh, I can so relate to cold and miserable; would you believe we've had almost 4 ft of rain since Oct., the most since they began keeping records in 1895? Love your yarn purchases, STR is a favorite here.
