Our teams were back in action yesterday. We had our second competition of the season.
I packed the car early in the morning with Mr. Caterpillar and his buddies and hit the gas station on my way out of town. The pump clicked off at exactly $13.13. Not good. I already had a sleepless night worrying about how to get a 12 foot gingerbread house through an 8 foot door. This is the stuff nightmares are made of around here.
It was a day full of worries.
On the plus side, we did have a spacious dressing room where Miss Frizzle could find a comfortable spot to get her "do" on.
Clifford had top shelf accommodations.
The wicked witch (me) had a huge bathroom in which to turn herself green. The little team members love to watch me do this.
The gingerbread boy was spacing out waiting for our turn to skate.
Our beautiful Sugar Plum Fairy had a corner all to herself.
We took advantage of the warm day and a nearby field to run the programs.
At 1:00 the large team, the one that stars Clifford, The Hungry Caterpillar and me as the frazzled librarian, won first place. Better yet, we got heaps of compliments from coaches and judges.
At 3:30 we carried that nightmare of a gingerbread house through the door and onto the ice sideways without a problem and went on to win gold medal number two of the day. All that hard work making the conversation heart boxes and costumes paid off. This time the judges loved our little cuties. I drove home a very happy and still a rather greenish witch. I'll never be afraid of the number 13 again.
Got a lucky number?

ReplyDeleteWhoo hoo! 2 Gold finishes, I love it. I bet daughter was pleased yes? Well done team. I have too many numbers I like to have a favorite. Weird? It depends on what it's for. Am I wearing it, am I entering a raffle? See? I know it's weird.
