I usually never wash my stamps out in the sink and use this container instead but I was up very early finishing up a few Easter cards while the house was still sleeping so I threw caution to the wind and gave them a quick rinse in the sink. Bad move.
The Mister, who was sleeping soundly, thought the house was on fire when my little bunny went down the drain. I can't tell you how many times The Mister has yelled at me when I don't put the strainer thingy in when I do things like this. At first I wasn't even going to tell him but MY LITTLE BUNNY WAS DOWN THE DRAIN!
The Mister knew how much this stamp set meant to me. I practically got a restraining order from the stamp company because I contacted them so many times to reassure myself it was on the way. So with some completely justified grumbling, he unhooked ALL the pipes and then we went through ALL the gunk that came out the pipes. Yuck. Lo and behold, just as we were giving up hope, there the tiny thing was just waiting to be rescued. It was a miracle.
Now he's back where he belongs and I can quit fretting. Never, ever will I wash out my stamps in the sink again. Never. Ever.
Ever lose anything down a drain?
Oh no!! Pipe gunk is the worst! I've dropped I don't know how many earings down there and my diamond ring even took the plunge once! :< I'm real carefull now.
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness; this is too funny! (Now that we know it has a happy ending!) No, I don't ever remember dropping anything down my kitchen drain....yet!
ReplyDeleteOh yuck! I can't even stand to clean the strainer baskets -- make my hubby do that for me. Glad your bunny is safe now.
ReplyDelete"Ever lose anything down a drain?"
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, indeed! When I first had my ears pierced, I had to put on my earrings in the bathroom where there was good light over the mirror. Sure enough, an earring once went down the drain. The plumber who retrieved it mumbled something about "you women!" but I suggested that "we women" were keeping him in business & putting his kids through college. :>)
Congratulations on a successful rescue operation!
ReplyDeleteTheMister gets something special! This reminds me I must add drain o to the upstairs sink. SO Happyyou found the bitty bunny!
ReplyDeleteI lost my engagement ring down the drain very shortly after I moved into my first big girl place. Thankfully, I did it when Dave was still there (he wasn't living with me at the time) and he dutifully took it apart. It wouldn't have been the end of the world - my engagement ring is sterling silver with a garnet - not some crazy expensive diamond. It wouldn't have cost much to replace, but it was a good reminder of why I had an inexpensive engagement ring to begin with (that, and I REALLY like it.)
ReplyDeleteI am SO glad little bunny was saved.
ReplyDeleteYou know .... I don't think I have ever lost anything down the drain. However, I lost a diamond out of my ring into a thick shag rug. Never DID find it. I think the rug ATE it.
I'm so glad you got it back. I could feel your agony! I've been there and I'm so grateful to your Mister for being such a sport and such a husband to get in there and go after it for you. That is understanding love. Even better that you and little bunny stamp are reunited.
ReplyDeleteUm, let's not talk about the things I lose and where and how often. I want to give a friendship a chance.
