Soxieknitter sent me this box of fiber that I am just starting to have fun with.
It's fiber from a Bond sheep. I had to do my homework because this is a new to me breed. It's Australian and it's a mix of Merino and Lincoln. Interesting.
It's been nicely processed. All I do is pull it from the box and spin. No prep required. It drafts like a dream.
I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
I am probably going to be riding this wheel through the Tour this year.
I've also got Finley the Shetland going in the backroom which promises also to be another epic ride. Good times.
Nice. Your yarn is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI already love Shetland; I am looking forward to a good report on the Bond-I have heard great things about it but haven't spun it either!
ReplyDeletePretty! Love that shade of grey. I think I'm going to watch shearing I a weekend or so...hoping they have some fiber to sell as well....just what I need - ha-ha.
ReplyDeleteThat Bond fluff does look nice and it's always a plus when there's no prep time involved. The color looks a little like the rose grey alpaca I'm working on at the moment.
ReplyDeleteBOnd . .James BOnd? I love OUR BOND Deb!
ReplyDeleteHave fun with that gorgeous fluff
The Bond yarn looks YUMMY!
ReplyDeleteNice work! You make it look so easy!
ReplyDeleteSo first of all before I caught up on the tangled web of fun posts I saw this post title and I'm totally humming the James Bond theme which I some how make it sound "country". Anyways! I don't spin, but I like this stuff already because you said no prep. Some of the stuff you spin there are so many things you need to do before you get going! Sheesh, I'm exhausted before that wheel even starts moving! And that is an awesome handle, "soxieknitter".
ReplyDeleteYour spinning is so beautiful and smooth. I am not a spinner but am in awe of those of you who create beautiful yarn.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
I'm glad you like the Bond. It's my favorite fiber. I buy the fleece from Gleason's Fine Woolies in CO, and if you want to read more about the flock there is some interesting info on their website. Happy spinning.....
