Bomb Cyclone?

I have no idea what a bomb cyclone is in spite of watching The Weather Channel nonstop yesterday. All I know it is supposed to get cold. Really cold so we are getting ready.

Our woodpile was pretty small so The Mister bought a truck full from a niece and her husband who deliver wood for a living. Check out her husband's get up on the right. He's wearing shorts. Really. Shorts. It takes all kinds.

I am not sure if we are going to get any snow to speak of out of this storm but I will be seeing flakes. I've got to applique these flakes down now so I can get on with the mini quilt.

Here is the first finish of 2018! I started these on my birthday-December 16th, so I could pack them in the Christmas box to Michigan. Being sick put a hold on all the packing but as soon as the snow clears these will be on the way along with Son's and his lady friend's other gifts. I really love this yarn. It's Trekking 135 and they flew off the needles because those crazy stripes were so much fun to knit.

Stay safe everyone on the East coast. It looks like a pretty big blow on the way. Yikes.

  1. Those socks are gorgeous! I've never used that yarn, but only here great things about it. Our UPS drivers often wear shorts in the winter - Crazy!

  3. Trekking is wonderful sock yarn. Self-striping yarn always motivated me to knit faster. I like seeing the stripes emerge.

Someone has been busy splitting all that wood. Do you stack the wood or leave it in a heap?

  6. Ugh I am so over the super cold weather. I haven't left the house since December 29th. IT's just too cold to go anywhere. Dave asked me if I wanted to go to the cottage with him... which is not properly winterized and heated only by a small fireplace... um... no thanks.

Those socks looks great, and I'm glad you're feeling better! Stay warm!

  7. Haha the colors in your storm picture match your socks! They are lovely and look like they were a lot of fun to knit. I love it when the sockyarn improves the act of knitting. Stay warm and safe. The shorts are impressive.

  8. I thought the same thing about the shorts wearing person. Each to their own. We've been below the donut here since Christmas. Stay warm and safe! The socks are super cute!

  9. I hope you stayed warm during the bomb cyclone, really the names of these storms just make them sound so scary. Growing up we just had storms, no names at all!
