Thank You Uncle Sam

I am 62 today and I am now eligible to collect Social Security. I signed up for it last month and I'll start getting my monthly checks in February. It will double my income from what I've been bringing home from my pitiful teacher's pension. Woo hoo. Think of all the yarn...

It's going to be great having more income but at the same time it makes me officially old. In just three years I'll also be eligible for Medicare. Then I will officially be really old.

I was also surprised to see that Google wished me a happy birthday with this doodle. It was there and then it was gone. I had thought I dreamt it but it seems it is a real thing and I was quite tickled. Thank you Google.

Son and Daughter in Law gave me a $50 gift certificate to you know where. You know I'll be putting that to good use.

I'm going to thank you in advance for all your birthday wishes just don't wish me too many more. Thanks to Daddio's nursing home adventure and the 96 year old MIL, I've seen really, really old age and I don't particularly want to go there.

  5. Happy birthday! Hope it is super fantabulous!

I wish I was old enough to double my income! Of course, they are speculating that by the time I'm old enough to receive Canada Pension, there won't be a Canada Pension any more. They've already pushed it back to age age 67 from 65. (Though our sexy new minister is talking about making it 65 again). But it's okay... I'm totally going to win the lottery!

  6. Happy Birthday! I'm wishing you whatever you want because you're fabulous and deserve it. You bring me a lot of smiles and laughter here. There is no way you're close to anything old with all that you do and do well.

  7. Happy, happy!!!! Sixty two is NOT old you know. It's the new 40! (Or so I've been told.)

I turned 60 this year. I certainly don't feel what I thought 60 would feel like --- well, at least not mentally. Sometimes the old body KNOWS I'm 60.

Hope you had a wonderful day of celebration. Enjoy the browse through the Bramble Berry site and get all those lovely things you've dreamt of.
