Fruitcake Weather

It's so nice when there is just a little sprinkle of snow while the fruitcakes are baking-but that never happens here. On fruitcake day, it was raining. It's been raining here since Thanksgiving. I'm soggy.

I made two kinds of fruitcake this year, my regular with candied fruit and a healthier version with just dried.

 That's a lot of cakes.

Mmmmm.......the house smelled so good during the long bake time.

I thought I had added too much fruit, dried or otherwise, this year but the samples say I did it just right. They were delish. I practically ate a dozen of them all by myself.

This year I glazed them with a mixture of golden syrup and brandy. Best year ever I'm thinking.

  6. This post made me buy fruit cake today! Almost $10 for a little chunk (probably about a quarter of your loaf)

  7. Mmm ... I love a good fruitcake. Haven't made any yet this winter. Perhaps next month. I always make it the "healthy" way with dried fruits. Yours looks so beautiful! I'd like a slice of both kinds with a nice cuppa tea.
