The hardest part of this pattern so far was the 265 stitches I had to cast on. I had to do it twice because I forgot it needed to be loose in order to pull out the lace peaks later. This pattern calls for the border lace to be knit first which is very unusual. I ended up casting on using a needle twice as big as I needed and it worked perfectly-or at least I think it did. Only time will tell.

There are bobbles. I've never done bobbles. They weren't as terrible to do as I thought they were going to be.

The Slinky Cat is wonderful to work with but it slinked it's way right off my swift so it ended up in a clumsy ball instead of a yarn cake. It really has a very silky feel that's going to be so nice to wear.

  1. You are off to a good start......the color and shine are gorgeous!

  2. I looks lovely - and you're right - that 50% silk makes it super slinky! I see you're using wood needles... smart move.. I'm working my shrug on my metal chiaogoos... but I really should switch to my Knit Picks... because the stitches are slip/sliding all over the place - especially when I cable.

  3. the hardest part is done. I LOVE the colorway

  4. Great color! 265 stitches is a lot! Looks like you're off to a good start.
