Pretty Stuff

For some reason this year, I was compelled to stick flowers in pots. I never do this because it's like serving the deers lunch on a plate.

I am blaming the mild winter for my odd behavior because things that never bloom are blooming around here like crazy and all this prettiness is making me greedy for more. My usually spindly hydrangea is huge and full of strangely multicolored blooms this year.

My favorite blooms are the ones that still are a bit yellow and green. I can't walk by them without thinking about weddings.

Even this weird plant we picked up several years ago at the MDSW has burst into flower. My usually dark and woody yard looks like a wedding chapel for the fairy folk.

Weirder still, we have roses. We have always had some sad little rose plants but this year they actually have blooms.

It's crazy. The world must be coming to an end. Maybe that late August hurricane that damaged the trees so badly created spots of sun that the plants are enjoying-or something like that.

The many hosta patches that live in the deep shade are just beginning to bloom adding to the beauty of the strange flower explosion.

The yard is also full of pretty white clover. We don't have clover, we have moss. Where is the moss?

Last but not least, the tipped over black walnut, that we thought was dead after the hurricane, has produced a crop of nuts. It's like being in the Twilight Zone of plants around here but I'm not complaining.

  1. My flowers have exploded too - though I don't have near as many as you.

  2. Amazing blooms.
I think it must be the extra sunlight and warmth. So happy you have walnuts again and can dye your fingers black!
