It's taken me all week to find the words to write this post. On Sunday night we were getting things together for another week of Grand sitting when I got a frantic call from Daughter. Big Grand was being loaded in an ambulance and was heading to the John Hopkins Trauma Center. My first thought was something allergy related but it turns out he had fallen from a high distance on a sharp metal pole in the yard and....stop here if you're squeamish......it went right through his arm.
The tears in his shirt from the pole went right across his chest. He was inches from having had it go right through his upper body in the area of his heart. The EMTs couldn't believe his luck. We would have had a very different week if it had. Instead we were having our regular sitting adventure of cards and Legos after dashing up there in the middle of the night to take care of the baby while Mom and Dad were at the hospital. Tests confirmed no major damage was done which was another miracle. It's just a big puncture wound that was taken care of with a couple of stitches on either side of his arm. Whew.....
Our sitting adventure was a quiet one. Big Grand has to take it easy until the stitches dissolve. Then there was the heat that kept us inside. Baby Grand was very good. He's easy to keep busy just by cycling out the toys.
