Wednesday WIPs
The Regia twins look like this now.
The 2024 stocking KAL looks like this. Don't you just love those bells and bows?
The stocking I just finished is hung by the chimney with care. Not really. It's hung by the TV. That afterthought heel is....awful. I'm going to try it again with the stocking I'm working on and see if I can get it right this time. One of the mistakes I made was to insert it into a stranded section which made it messy. Arne and Carlos designed it to be in between two solid rows in this year's pattern. The other mistake was to make it too big. I would tear it out and make it smaller but there's a lot of kitchener going on there and I don't have the nerve.
And....did you ever order so much from Amazon that they left this on your front porch with all your stuff inside it? The Mister and I splurged on Black Friday and bought a lot of stuff we both needed. Now we've got to catch the truck to get this giant thing back to them. In case you're wondering, we got a new turntable for The Mister's vinyl collection, a DVD player so I can play my collection of holiday DVDs, TWO new Chromebooks, a Fire TV, a warm quilted coat for Pup, a big string of Edison lights for the deck, THREE more puzzles to keep The Mister busy AND a partridge in a pear tree. Just kidding. No partridge. No pear tree but there was one very expensive cabbage shredder I saw someone using on TikTok.
I'm currently sitting here at 11:40 pm watching youtube videos trying to figure out how to do a heel flap and turn on a circular needle. I'm tired of loosing my dpn's in the car. It just seems like I should be able to do them on a circular needle.
ReplyDeleteI do like your socks, even the one next to the TV.
A bigger heel makes more room for Santa to leave gifts in. :-)
It does seem as though Christmas came early to your house! Have fun with the new toys.
Blessings,
Betsy
Nobody will be wearing your finished stocking, so I think it looks just fine. Santa can leave an extra large orange in the big heel. And the new stocking is beautiful! I do love the bells and bows and shovels (or whatever the things in between the bows are).
ReplyDeleteThe 2024 stocking is so pretty - the bells are perfect. Your match-matchy socks are looking good too. I've never done an afterthought heel - it has always seemed awkward to me, plus I just love turning the heel! That sure is a lot of stuff you two ordered!!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried an afterthought heel. Is it worth the experimentation?
ReplyDeleteNever got a nice little carryall --- maybe I need to order more!
A big no to the afterthought heel inho unless you are doing some fancy colorwork and don't want to interrupt the pattern. I like a nice sturdy gusset and short row heel for regular ole socks.
DeleteI think the stocking looks perfect! Can you leave the basket on the porch and they can just pick it up when they deliver your next order? There's always a next order, isn't there! Lol
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work!
ReplyDeleteI love the new socks--so pretty and the pattern in the yarn just keeps you going! The new stocking is amazing--good job! And the stocking you just finished is fine!!! You've done beautifully!
ReplyDeleteSounds like your Amazon driver was very busy. Lovely knitting work as always.
