Planned Obsolescence

Look at that. Just look at it. That's a chip in my new $$$ quartz counter top in the area around the sink. I had an absolute breakdown about it yesterday and cried all day. I have no idea how I did it but there it is. Nothing and I mean nothing about this new kitchen is working for me. When I say I hate it, I really, really mean it.

I spend all day walking on eggshells in it. I've got mats, glass counter protectors and then I still put down a dishcloth under everything. I've been so careful and still........a chip. All these new fangled building materials are terrible. The glass stove top and sink scratch if you just look at them. The floor is a streaky mess even if you mop it all day long. Don't even get me started on the appliances that never worked. I can't even use the dishwasher now because of the recall and we can't even get through to them to set up a repair date. It's insanity. I hate cooking anymore. All I can think of is that they don't want this stuff to last so we have to keep replacing it over and over. The old kitchen that The Mister and I installed 30 years ago looked better when we ripped it out than the new stuff looks right now. It might have been out of date but it was much more usable than this fancy modern junk-and I mean junk. Expensive junk.

  1. I know exactly what you mean. Our new tub has a chip in in. A chip. Piper has taken exactly one bath in it and I took one shower the day it was finished just to make sure there were no leaks.
I have no idea how a chip appeared. (It was there BEFORE Pipers bath so it wasn't her.) There was nothing in the tub. So frustrating.
I'm so sorry that your kitchen is such a disappointment. It does look great if that's any consolation. I'm sorry Debbie. Life is not fun for you at the moment between the kitchen and your treatments and I feel so bad for you. I really wish I could give you a real hug.
    Blessings, hugs and love,
    Betsy

  4. I can’t relate to your new kitchen other than the floor. I did find with laminate if you damp mop with zep spray for laminate from Home Depot with a soft flat mop the streaks are no more.

  5. Well, that's a real bummer! So sorry to hear that!! I agree stuff today isn't very well made. Some years ago we learned that double pane windows only "live" about 7 years because they expect people to move within that time. We got a free replacement because we've been here way longer than that! Hope your day goes better now!

  7. I think you need to scour your house to find out if you have a horseshoe upside down somewhere that you don't know about. You have just had the worst luck!
But you're right - so much made today is just crap. Sigh.. I'm sending you good juju to bring better things to your near future!
