I've been plying but it hasn't been what I really
need to be plying. I am
still spinning the singles for this year's MDSW shawl. That clock is really ticking. It's been such slow going that I'm thinking this may be the last year I do this. I've been performing this little ritual for years so I really don't need anymore shawls. I need to start recycling the ones I already have. That by the way, is my broken Golding spindle that I managed to glue back together very nicely. It works perfectly again. I wish I could glue myself back so easily. I still am in a world of hurt from my recent tumble.
What I have been plying is the fiber from Wandering Cat Studios which was a lovely gift from Valerie.
This is what it started out as way back in September. It was a perfect early autumn spin but it was doomed to sit out the holidays when the wheels get packed away.
Now it's looking like this. Pretty.
It took me a while to get my plying mojo back. It's been a while.
I can't wait to swatch it and see what it wants to be.
Any ideas? Do you know any good patterns that play nice with handspun?
I don't know anything about handspun, but I know about that world of hurt. We really feel our ages when we get injured. It takes me a good bit to heal these days.
ReplyDeleteIt must be hard to pack your wheels away at the Holidays. I wouldn't be able to handle that! LOL! Very pretty handspun! I'm on the hunt for the very same type of pattern for mmine.
ReplyDeleteMom just made Fool Proof with some handspun. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/foolproof
ReplyDeleteI know it doesn't look like much on the pattern page.. but check out Mom's handspun one:

That is beautiful. One more for the queue....
DeleteHmmm Handspun in those pretty colors???? well, not socks. Isn't that helpful? I'd say a fun hat
ReplyDeleteI love the new yarn! I am presently working on the bind-off to Nurmilintu and I want to make another with my hand spun; it is easy and simple is a really cool shape!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your plying mojo is back, but you know what's you're really rocking? Is the color mojo! Have you noticed just how wonderful and colorful your projects have been through all your crafts? Soap, weaving, knitting, spinning. Really lovely, and yes, that green is spectacular!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous fiber and yarn. I really, really need to get back to my spinning.
