Wild and Crazy

I've had this ongoing spinning project happening in the backroom all winter. I was using up all the leftover nests in no particular order.

I spun three bobbins full for what I hoped would be a chunky three ply.

Last night I finished plying it and this morning it got a bath. I loved plying this thick stuff. It was all done in about half an hour as opposed to several tedious days.

I completely forgot to thwack it but I really don't think it's going to make much difference setting that crazy amount of twist.

It was a great drying day so it was done in a flash.

I need another project like I need a hole in the head but I just had to cast it on to see what happened. I wanted a wild and wooly hat and it seems that's just what I am going to get.

I am also going to get an itchy hat so I used the crocheted provisional cast on so I can give it a soft liner. I'm not planning on finishing this any time soon but whenever I am in the mood for something easy and fun, it'll be waiting.

  1. That will definitely be a FUN hat!

What makes it so itchy? Will your hair really notice?

  2. Some of the fiber I used was not terribly soft to begin with. Itchy hats make me itch all over so I usually make mine out of acrylic. I do have two cormo hats that are soft so it's not all wool that gives me fits.

  5. The pretty pastels make it look as though it's really soft though. The liner will make it nice and toasty warm too.

  9. You know what's really cool about that stuff knit up? It's got all the texture of something cozy but the colors are so warm and happy. Leftovers never looked so good. Provisional cast on for a liner?? crazy talk!
