Woodwork

Last weekend The Mister had a giant truck full of wood dropped off in our driveway.

Then we had a lot of rain. I did NOT want that ugly pile of blue tarp covered wood in my front yard for Christmas so that means that we've been spending a lot of time dodging raindrops and doing this.

I fill up the cart and drive it around back and then toss it over to The Mister who is stacking it under our deck. It's taken several days of hard labor but I am happy to say that I got my part done and the driveway is now clear. The Mister still has some stacking to do but at least the neighbors won't have to look at that mess when they gather for their holiday celebration on Christmas Eve.

Now I've got plenty of wood for roasting marshmallows. I was lucky in that this particular load there were lots of short cuts of wood perfectly sized for my little Solo Stove. I just need some dry winter weather instead of all this rain and wind we've been having.
Happy Solstice!

  1. I remember when we ordered a cord of wood at our house in Spokane and we had to haul it around to the backyard in the wheelbarrow. I didn't think we would ever get it all moved. I hurt in places I didn't know I had for days afterwards! :-)
We have a tiny solo stove that we keep in the camper and we have tiny fires on the tabletop when we camp alone. When we're with others, unless there is a fire ban we have a big one in the fire pit.
    Blessings and hugs,

  2. Stacking wood is kind of a pleasant chore because you can see your neatly-arranged pile when you're done. Enjoy your marshmallows and maybe have a s'more or two!

  4. Weird as it sounds, I do like stacking firewood. Now, moving it from dump site to stack site? Not so much.

  5. We cooperate on the stacking and it still takes forever.

  6. Having grown up on a farm with woods I have stacked my share of firewood. The saying was wood warms you twice. Once when you chop and stack and the next time when you burn it. Enjoy:)
