City Sidewalks

If you know anything about the Washington DC area you know where we were yesterday.

We went to the National Harbor to check out the holiday goings on but we pretty much were underwhelmed.

The only decor was on the parking garage and it was pretty lame. I wasn't expecting 5th Avenue but I was expecting something.

The advertised tree lighting was a bit boring. I've seen the Rockefeller tree and this was no Rockefeller tree.

There were these amazing lifelike statues everywhere. I've been to New Orleans where things like this turn out to be actual people so I was a bit startled by them at first.

This was the first one I saw outside the parking garage and I swore she was real.

We didn't plan on doing any shopping but I came home with a bag of candy and The Mister came home with a new coat. He had ripped the pocket of his and wouldn't stop complaining about it so when we walked past a Carhartt shop I sent him in with the instructions not to come out until he found a replacement. He did.

  1. I'm sorry you were disappointed with the area. So many places seem to have been cutting back this year. At least you got a bag of candy and a new coat out of the trip! I remember being in D.C. for Christmas when Mandy lived there. Piper was pretty little and told Papa that she thought Santa Claus lived in the White House! :-)
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  2. The decorations in your own town seem quite a bit nicer! I recognize the statue woman in the green coat. We had them in our town back in 2017; I think they're part of the traveling collection of sculptor J. Seward Johnson. He has done a lot of the sculptures at The Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ. Our town had five of the "people" for two and a half months. They were fun to look at, but the town paid $20,000 (at a time when they couldn't find money for a new fire truck or library books). I'm glad you got candy and Mister a new coat!

    1. You are so right. I had no idea they traveled. They are really something to see close up. They are incredibly lifelike down to the things in the green ladies bag. I had to touch her to make sure she wasn't punking me.

  4. Yes, I've used that "And don't come back until you're done" tone before.
