Full Circle

In 2013 I was sitting and knitting in one of the local physical therapy centers waiting for Daddio after his hip surgery. I was working on my Honey Cowl. I still wear it. It looks like a rag these days but I keep it in the car for when I misjudge the weather.

10 years later and I am now dropping The Mister off to the same place after his hip surgery. He had an 11 am appointment that lasted an hour.

I'm not sitting and knitting inside this time around because he wanted to bring Pup along. While I waited, I took her for a walk over to the boardwalk and then settled back in the car while I worked on the toe of my Felici sock. She was NOT a happy camper. She couldn't understand why The Mister went one way and we went another.

She was a lot happier back at home helping me pack him in ice. His next appointment is tomorrow at 8 am (!). I think I'm going to pack a pillow and blanket and a mug of hot coffee. We've got a month of early morning appointments three times a week. Remember when I said I couldn't wait for the in-home visits to be over? I'm thinking now it might have actually been easier than this after all.

And.......within minutes of being packed in ice, The Mister and Pup both fell asleep leaving me a few minutes in a quiet corner to get that toe done. Pair number three are now in the 2023 gift box.

Loopy

Today The Mister is going to hobble off to his first out patient rehab session. Yesterday he was bored out of his mind and driving me crazy. I set my ironing board over his special chair so he could make me a potholder. That way he didn't have to bend at the waist.

He wasn't too thrilled at first. He'd rather mope around and be in a bad mood but soon enough the loops worked their magic and I got about a half hour of quiet time. I also got a pot holder.

If I can get just a few minutes a day without having to deal with whatever misery The Mister is serving up, it will be worth the money I just spent on lots more loops in lot more colors. Amazon better get them here by tomorrow like they promised.

Tiny Needle Tuesday

The cow pile have a bed of flowers to perch on this week. Now I've got to stitch all that green grass around them. Ugh.

Patchwork Printemps has two more wonky pink sheep now. I've got only one more block to go and then I can start the outside borders.

That big side floral motif on Village Quaker has been a real pleasure to work on this week. While The Mister was getting his therapy I put in a few stitches here and there.

My tall ship has one more sail thanks to The Mister spending more time in the lower level over the weekend where this project lives. I've got one more big sail to go and then I get to finally put a ship under them. The Mister over did it this weekend with the golf thing so he's back upstairs on the couch again for most of the day. His bad leg started to swell so it's back to the compression stockings and inflating thingys for most of the day. An hour or two of downstairs time after dinner is all he's getting-for now.

Upstairs, Downstairs

The Mister achieved another milestone this weekend. He managed to get down the stairs and into his recliner and watch some golf.

Since he's still under some pretty strict restrictions I had to stay down there with him for the most part but I did get to spend some time in my downstairs craft room and give it a good cleaning. I also sat down and finished this section of yo yo's. They are all together now into a pillow sized square. Now I can applique them down.

I also got a few more inches of border on Rainbow Kitty.

What I have been doing upstairs for the past few weeks is watching way too many YouTube videos. When I see someone doing something interesting I usually throw some money at it. That's how I got this new pen. It's been sitting downstairs for the longest time waiting for me to come play with it.

I have no talent whatsoever for calligraphy of any shape or size but that never stops me from adding to my pen and ink collection. This parallel pen didn't magically give me any more skill than I already had but it was fun to play with.

Musselburgh

Ta da....Musselburgh is done.

I followed the directions and knit it to 18 1/2 inches before decreasing but it didn't do what the photo on the pattern shows.

Ysolda's has a nice deep brim. I wanted that look but didn't get it.

If I roll the brim I get a little beanie. I was out of yarn anyway so it is what it is. At least it fits. My first try was huge. This one is perfect. The yarn is also a win. It's Capretta in a special reserve 100 gram Woodstock colorway. It has cashmere in it and is is soft as you can imagine.

Liberation Day!

Woo hoo! We saw the last of the health home visits yesterday and I am beyond elated. For 10 days I've had strangers tromping through my house all day and it was exhausting. For the last few visits Pup and I went into the sewing room where I actually got a few things put together while they were here taking vitals and putting The Mister through his exercises.

Dear Jane block C-13, Lakota Sioux, is now done. Lattices and all. I also finished 2 more scrappy hexies for the paper pieced table runner. I have one more hexie to go and then I'll have to figure out how to put it all together.

But this weekend I am celebrating. No more jumping out of bed and cleaning my house for morning sessions. No more spending all day straightening up for afternoon sessions. Since they go in every room working with The Mister's transitioning, no room was safe from prying eyes. This weekend there will be dishes in my sink, cat hair on my floors and a big mess in the kitchen.

Speaking of big messes in the kitchen, as soon as the last of them went out the door yesterday I attempted to make a chocolate cake to go with that can of Dolly Parton chocolate frosting that's been living in my pantry cabinet. Oh, dear....it was a chocolate volcano. I still haven't gotten the hang of that little oven I bought. It's either too hot or too cold.  Oh, well...with enough frosting I can straighten this mess out. No one-and by that I mean The Mister, will ever know the difference.

Friday Fluff

When I realized I wasn't going to make it to the MDSW this year I bought myself some fiber. It's a Falkland tonal set which means it's in pieces-not in one big braid. I've never worked with Falkland so it will be an adventure.

That is not going to happen for a while. All my wheels are shoved up in the corner so I could move the furniture around to turn the living area into a place for The Mister to spend his days.

Like this. When he's not doing his exercises or sitting in his special chair he's doing this in front of the TV. My TV.  We usually spend our down time on different levels so we've had to take turns picking what to watch.

I had to deal with golf all weekend and this week the poor guy has had to suffer through Eurovision. He'll never admit it but by the way he's been ranking the acts through the semi finals I actually think he likes it.
