Another Trip Around the Sun

It's this guy's birthday today. The Mister has officially made 69 trips around the sun. He didn't grow up to be a cowboy.

He grew up to be a mailman.

We've gone through some crazy stuff in the 30 plus years we've been together but the last few have certainly been the craziest. Mange? Who'd have thought that was on our bingo cards.

There's been all that home remodeling that never ends.

And... covid lockdown and jabs to name just a few of the trials and tribulations we've sailed through together.

We are less than two weeks away from our next big adventure-his hip replacement. After all we've been through I think we can handle it. It seems like just a very small bump in a very long and winding road.

Out of Season

I had a monster of a headache yesterday. I could feel it coming on Tuesday night while I was sitting downstairs organizing all of The Misters dots for his Diamond Dot project.

I went on to sew together more yo-yos when I should have gone and taken a Tylenol and a hot bath. I paid the price for letting it creep up on me.

In spite of feeling awful I power washed the deck, brushed the cats and gave Pup a bath. We took her out for a walk to dry off since it was in the 80's again.

We took her to a local beach that has a long shady asphalt walk. I didn't want my clean, wet dog in the sand and the boardwalk was too hot.

This place is spectacular in the fall but in the spring it's not very scenic. In fact, it's pretty dismal.

The wetlands look more like a swamp than anything else.

With the leaves down I did spy this. I had to climb a muddy hill to get the photo. I wonder if Ted and Maggie are still together? It really was a grand gesture.

Wednesday WIPs: On the Border

I'm still working my way around the border of Dad's squares quilt. I've got one more long side to go.

I finished (!) all the blue sky that Rainbow Kitty is floating in and have started his border.

I've got some supply issues with that border. I thought I had more rainbow colors leftover than I have. I'll have to figure something out if I want to keep that ROY G BIV thing going.

And.....I'm finally a few rows in on the spring green towel. I had to rip it out once from tension issues but I think I've got it this time. I've really been living on the edge this week.

Tiny Needle Tuesday

My tiny needles were working overtime this week. Between sewing the bindings down on Dad's quilt and the spring placemats I didn't have a lot of time for anything else. Village Quaker got its key finished and the letter M and E and that's about it. At least now I can move on from this section and start on that right hand corner where I think another big potted plant awaits.

Patchwork Printemps got a button and a quilt block that was all squares. That was a lot of fun to stitch.

The top of the Cow Pile got a big thistle. I've got a lot of green stuff and flowers to do up top but I think this week I'll start working on the big cow at the bottom. That's most likely a pipe dream because I still have so much of Dad's binding to finish. It's not a lot of fun but it really does look great. I'm looking forward to showing it off.

Needlework

There wasn't much Easter things happening over the weekend-except maybe a lot of eating of jelly beans but there was a lot of sewing. I had to make more lattice strips for Dear Jane so I did. I've been trying to get one sewn on a day.

Dad's squares quilt had its binding sewn on. What a chore. Paper pieced edges are thick and uneven.

Sewing down all that binding has also been quite a chore. I've been tackling a bit of it a day. Two sides to go. I can't wait.

Have a wonderful day!

In the Nick of Time

I spent yesterday getting all the binding sewn down on the spring placemats so I could use them for Easter dinner. We're not hosting or going to see family but I still wanted something special on the table.

The best thing about this set is that it can stay on the table for a long while. I'm pretty much placematted out at the moment. I do have some beachy fabric I wanted to use for a summer set but that's going to wait.

I do love the backing material and am glad I ordered it. I've got enough leftover for some smallish projects but for now I'm packing it away.

I didn't even touch the jelly roll that I have from the collection. It's probably just going to join my jelly roll collection. I have quite a few and I can't ever bring myself to use them because they are just so pretty as they are.

My other holiday table decor consists of a basket of scrubby yarn. My plan was to knit a few more scrubby pads but I never got around to it.

The only really big plans I have for this weekend is to eat my way through these two bags of jelly beans. I've already gone through two others.
