Fall Talk

 I know it's too early in the season but I couldn't resist a pumpkin spice bagel. It was good.

 I found these in the store this week. I haven't opened them yet. Now I need to be on the lookout for  pumpkin spice coffee and I'll be all set until Christmas.

 Because of all the KAL knitting, I am in the doldrums as far as my other projects go. I did get this much warped for the Halloween towels. I have one more color repeat and it'll be time to get it on the loom.

 The thumb gusset is slowly making its appearance on the mitts. I hope it works.

 All this fall talk seems silly when it still looks like this out. It was rainy today and chilly but it still looks very much like summer. I want cooler-but I want dry more. My allergies are killing me.

Ants in His Pants

 When I am home I never get anything done because a certain Mister can't stay in one place very long. Come on football, the season can't get here fast enough.

 We spent the entire day yesterday running his errands. I had to go along because he needed me to run into Ikea and get him some sheets. For most of the day I sat in the car, listened to audiobooks and knit with the dogs. Someone asked me about the yarn I was using. It is indeed Kroy and I got it on clearance.

 Since I hadn't planned to spend the day this way I was unprepared when I got to the heel of my sock. Thank goodness for the little Knit Kit Daughter gifted me many moons ago. I always carry it in my purse and it has saved me many a time.

 That's a heel to be right there. Yippee....

 I was more than cranky on this trip. It was hot and the dogs were being a pain. They are worse than kids to take anywhere. They wouldn't eat the dog food I packed them so we had to stop and get a bribe of Mcnuggets and a cheeseburger. They get a tiny bit and The Mister eats the rest.

 We ended the day at the park so they could get all their energy out before the long ride home. There were signs of fall on the ground but it was still hot. Did I mention it was hot? It was. It was hot. Too hot. I hate hot.

The only good thing that happened yesterday was that a very nice someone left me a comment about the Yankee Candle website still having Witches Brew. IT DOES!!! I bought a bunch. Thank you Mo!

No Scents

 This is me in Yankee Candle yesterday when I found out they discontinued the Witches Brew scented candles for Halloween. I was beyond sad.

 Back at home I remembered I had this......

...and this. It's the knock off fragrance I use for soap. I took some unscented tea lights, melted them down and added a spoonful of this and my house smelled just like Halloween. Now I need to learn how to make candles. Life is such a slippery slope when it comes to this crafting thing.

 Digging around in the soap supplies made me remember I had a lot of soap to wrap. I stopped on my way to Daughter's on Friday and picked up some paper for the job. I love those little 6x6 pads.

I had 30 bars that had been tested last week and are now ready to go.

 Among them-Witches Brew.

 It takes forever but I love this part.

Ta dah....half of the fall batch all wrapped and ready to go.

The other half finishes its cure next week. All together there are 70 bars I will need to rehome as soon as we all get a good run of moderate temps. Stay tuned....details to come.

Solitude Interrupted

 The kitties woke me up at 6 so I had plenty of quiet time to get some KAL knitting done.

 Then at 10:30 Daughter called to say they were on their way home-already. It's only a three hour drive from the ocean so I packed up and headed home. I like to be on my way before they get home. No one needs me and all my stuff around when they are trying to unpack.

 I could have used a few more hours of alone time but someone was glad to see me. I had to play toss the kitty for about an hour upon arrival.

I tried to get some work done but she wasn't having any of it.

From what I could see those hexies are going to fit very nicely onto the border that's already there. I see a lot more appliqueing in my future-as soon as Pup lets me.

A Rainy Saturday

There was plenty of Fall KAL knitting in the morning but it is all too boring to mention again at this stage. In addition to all the socks, I also brought along the naughty pile of brown spaghetti to try and make peace. I had an unfortunate experience with it a few weeks ago and I have been afraid to touch it ever since. I am happy to report it played nice today. 

 The gloomy afternoon was spent stitching. I had stopped and picked up the floss for the little Halloween sampler that just showed up in the mail. I didn't mean to get started just yet but it was quite addicting.

I've got another sheep in the making. I am also happy to say that the new snap frame is working out. I keep it stretched with a thick towel when it's not in use.

That evening I perched under a lamp with this pile of pretty batiks for some paper piecing. I think these hexies may be a border for Daddio's wedding ring quilt. Everything else I tried did not look quite right. That little quilt is getting to be a real headache to finish. I didn't see that coming. I thought it would be done by now.

Finally I did some terrible watercoloring using water soluble markers instead of paint. I saw someone doing thumbnail sketches of landscapes using this technique and I thought I'd try it looking out Daughter's window. As usual I had a lot of fun working on several of them but they're not much to look at. It ate up a few hours of a long, dreary day so I should be thankful for that.

In Knots

 That face says it all. I am kitty sitting once again and the kitties were not happy about it in spite of the fact that I went through a bag of kitty treats in my first hour there.

 Never mind them. They'll get over it. I've got stuff to do. I went to cast on one of my KAL projects and found....gasp-a knot. That's Felici btw. For shame.

 I'm glad I found it early. I rewound it into balls to make sure there were no more. There weren't but we all know one ill placed knot can be more than enough especially in socks.

 I am doing these in tandem. It's my favorite way to do stripes I want to match. I knit one pattern repeat on each today before I ran out of gas.

I also managed to get another one of the KAL projects started before I left the house yesterday. My favorite time of day to do itty bitty knitting is in the early morning. Now I have a whole weekend of uninterrupted mornings ahead of me-barring kitty interruptions, that is.

September

 Today's the start of the fall KAL but I won't be casting on until later tonight. I've decided to go for two pairs since I have so much autumn colored yarn to use up.

I'm on my way to kitty sit at Daughter's again this weekend while they head off to Fenwick Island for a romp on the beach with some friends. I am going with some textured knits for the socks. Some old favorites.

 Before I left I got a package from my favorite online stitch store.

 I had been looking for weeks for something Halloweeny.

I only wanted one and I wanted something small but I couldn't resist this one too. I'll only work on them in October so they'll take a while but I am okay with that. It's all about the journey.

Even though I haven't put a stitch on the Sheep Virtues sampler all week I ordered two more to come along for the ride.  That makes six so I am officially halfway to having collected them all.  If stitching them was as easy as ordering them-I'd be done.
