Friday Fluff

I finally got tired of the Ladybug sitting here without a project on it. I went stash diving and came up with this.

It's an interesting combination of Fallish colors so it might hold my interest for a while. I admit that the TdF and Vuelta wore out my spinning mojo not to mention that pile of unused handspun sitting here giving me the side eye every day.

I also went back to work on the Merino that has been on the Traditional for months. I only had this bit left to spin and became completely bored with it back in the summer. If I just do one little bit a day I can make short work of it.

The handspun Pi Shawl is also back in the works again. I am trying my best to get one pattern repeat of the border done a night. I know I'm jinxing myself but we might just be out of AC weather and another nice warm shawl might be nice to have around. The nights are getting chilly.

And....today would have been Dad's 96th birthday. When I was over taking my turn at caretaking, I would always fix us a small drink in the afternoon. It put us both in a better mood and calmed him down enough that I could take my leave and know he wouldn't be getting into anymore mischief for the rest of the day. I'm not much of a drinker but I had the urge to get a bottle of his old favorite and pour myself out one today. Time has finally managed to soften all the bad times and just leave me some fond memories of the old guy. I've got other things to cry in the bathtub about now. Grief takes its turn.

  2. That fall fluff is really lovely! We had 34 last night, so maybe we really are done with summer. Time does have the ability to soften things a bit and smooth out the rough edges. I'm raising my tea to your father.

  3. Your new fall spin is beautiful!

Happy heavenly birthday to your dad. I'm sure he is lifting a toast to you as well. Hopefully they have Canadian Mist up there too!

  4. My father wasn't much of a drinker, so a piece of coconut cake is my go-to for him. <3

  5. Very pretty fiber for spinning. I always like the variegated colors in fiber but am not so good at spinning them into a yarn I like. Still I love to spin and have handspun also giving me the evil eye.

  6. The fibers look so good!!! I would love to dive into the oranges! I think the changing of seasons and reminders of the former ones bring out grief's sharper pains.
