Cornered

I finished a corner on Jack this week. I am growing increasingly fearful that I made the same mistake on Jack as I did with Spiral Chicken. I underestimated how much wool I would need to finish the background and now I can't find any more of it. I still have a pile of it here so all hope is not lost. Not yet, anyway.

Speaking of cornered, we had to take a long trip to Micheal's yesterday because I didn't have the color floss I needed for those pumpkins and I didn't want to order it and wait. It was worth my while because I came home with a lot of pretty cardstock that was on sale.

I use a lot of it when I dress up the soap for gifting. I got the last of last year's batch ready to send out with The Mister the other day. He loves to hand it out to the folks he schmoozes with in town.

Speaking of soap, yesterday was Blackberry day. This is an activated charcoal soap and it was a messy pour. I am very happy that it behaved like I expect soap to behave. Those hard oils worked their magic. It thickened up nicely.

Here's a mug shot of what it looks like before you have to make the very hard decision on what to do with the top of it. Personally, I like it to look like meringue with nice peaks but when you've got strong colors it will make a mess so I just took an old, fat bamboo double point needle and took some light swipes at it. I exercised some rare restraint for a change.

  1. I do hope you have enough wool to finish Jack (maybe this year?). He's so happy it would be a pleasure to display him. I see that the corner of the sampler is more than just filling in but hopefully you can finish that soon-ish.

  3. I just uncovered that Halloween sampler yesterday and now I want to start it. However, I know I will be over it on 11/1. Decisions decisions!
