The itch is still upon me. The nasty rash that is covering most of myself hasn't budged an inch. I'm surviving by treating the symptoms every few hours which means lots of Benadryl and cool soaks in the tub with my extra mild tea tree, kelp and sea salt bars.
I've also concocted bath bombs from all my soothing soap ingredients. Thank goodness for them.
What's really helping is the sea salt soaks.
It's given me such relief that I've been using it on the itchy old Maltese who suffers so at this time of year from seasonal allergies. If left on her own, she will chew herself raw in minutes. Poor thing.
I went online and bought her the new spiffy cone of shame and some pricey sea salt meds for her hot spots. I'm tempted to use them on myself-minus the cone. What I need are mittens to stop myself from scratching in my sleep. If this keeps up I just may have to break down and pay the doctor a call after the holiday. Ugh.
Hope the itchies go away soon.
ReplyDeleteToo awful. Your body goes into overdrive and just makes things worse.....perhaps a course of Steroids will give you relief because it breaks the cycle. (Lovely ingredients you've collected!)
ReplyDeleteI agree, if it doesn't get better soon, get your butt to the doctor. As Delighted Hands said, steroids are a HUGE help. I don't think I would have survived the poison ivy with out them.
ReplyDeleteHuck used to have terrible fall allergies. I used to give him benadry. The vet prescribed it, but I came to realize that dogs get a much bigger dose than humans. THey process the drug differently. He got lots of baths and reinforcement for leave it when I caught him chewing.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if you got my last comment. Huck had terrible fall allergies. Baths, limiting time on grass and benadryl kept him just ok. Lots of posittive reinforcement for LEAVE it when he stopped licking on command.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you're still having trouble. I hope you find relief soon.
ReplyDeleteBummer! Sure hope those itches stop torturing you soon!
