Lip Service

I started making my own soap stuff because I could never use the store bought kind without itching and burning.

It was the same for things that you put on your lips. All the usual brands of lip protection made my lips itchy. Anything with an SP value makes my lips swell.

I wasn't sure where this was going but I bought some supplies for making your own lip gloss type potions from the same company that sells me my soap supplies. At first I was skeptical but now, after a few months of use, I love the stuff. I've got a little pot in all my pockets.

  1. I've never heard of making your own lip balm. You are definitely a "Jill of all trades". I am glad you found something that works for you.

  4. I'm with Liana .....I've never felt they helped in the long run. But, I use Burt's Bees for a "temporary" relief sort of thing.

Glad you found something that worked for you and there is the pride of "doing it yourself!"

    2. Let me try this again:
Nope. It's like any recipe. I just bought the ingredients and melted them in the microwave. Beeswax, candelilla wax, almond butter and a flavored oil with a little mica for sparkle.

  7. I have trouble with lanolin, it makes my lips chap and pel. I always use shea butter on my lips. Your lip pots look perfect.

If it is anything like your soap, it has to be great. Good for you!

  11. I am with wandering cat! you should sell this stuff and I am another person who has a lip balm (or two) in every bag purse, jacket pocket. My sister is like you and has a crazy sensitivity to lip balms. We haven't identified the specific issue, but we know a few brands she cannot use.
