Separation Anxiety

All good things must come to an end.

It always pains me to cut things off the loom. It's scary.

When all was said and done I had this much loom waste. I'm not actually sure if this is a good or bad thing.

I almost made a big boo boo. I started to cut the towels apart before I machine stitched the edges. Ooops.

No harm was done but I really need to give myself more hem room. Turning them under is tricky with only an inch of plain weave to work with.

Even though I had pinned it carefully, the raw edges kept popping out.

You leave all the loose ends hanging out until you wet finish the towels. That gave The Mister a big scare.

I put them in the machine for a wash and when he went to take them out for me he thought they had fallen apart. Ha. I got a big laugh out of that.

The ends are snipped off later and they disappear nicely into the now tighter fabric with no weaving in.

Here's the Croc shot of the two different plaids. I was running out of cotton so I had to wing it.

I used a simple point twill for the weft.

Now they are off doing their towel duty. All that fuss over something that only ends up in a dirty wet heap. I love it. I can't wait to start the next pair.

  1. Ta da !!!!! Just beautiful! It's an item you use everyday; so making it and using it is very satisfying! Enjoy.

  2. Ah, I enjoyed watching you finish these up. I really like them, the colors, the practical nature of the project, all of it. I would be with the Mister, in freakout-land if I saw those ends in the wash. But it's really cool!
