I hope you are not growing weary of puppy pictures because that's pretty much all that's been going on around here. She's in the doggie version of the terrible two's. I can't take my eyes off her for a minute.
This is why my knits are being packed away early this year. She loves them-to eat.
Long haired dogs need a lot of grooming but she isn't helping matters. Nom, nom, nom. Everything tastes good to her.
In case you were wondering what her backside looks like, here it is. Note the lack of a tail. It was docked to almost nothing, poor little thing. She has to really waggle around in order to get a good wag on.
I may look all cute and cuddly but it's really more like.....
...having this guy around the house. Puppies are cute but dogs are so much better.

My Kind of Winter
On Thursday we had snow and no one else did. The clipper only lasted a few hours but it was quite remarkable.
It was remarkable because it was our first daytime snowstorm in a very long time. Snow seems to sneak in at dark and be gone by morning. I miss the sight of flakes coming down. I spent all morning trying to capture it but I just don't have the know how. You have to look closely to see the dots coming down. You can't even see them in my hand but no matter. I saw them and it was wonderful.

Mark Your Calendar
Dear Sisters,
Sunday. May 4th is the day we are all going to this year's MDSW. No excuses. Only a death certificate will be accepted if you are not able to attend this year. Please do not schedule any surgery (yes, Middle Sister, I am talking to you). Do not volunteer to babysit unless you are prepared to drag the wee one around with you all day. NO Daddio is not coming. Don't even ask.
As of today you have three months, two weeks and two days to knit or crochet yourself something to parade around in. Go to Ravelry. Get a pattern and get working on it. Now. Seriously. Now.

Come May
It's a good thing I wrote that post yesterday because it reminded me that I have some serious work to attend to. Buried in the remnants of last year's Tour is the beginning of this year's MDSW shawl.
I have a partial bobbin waiting for something to ply with.
My drop spindle skills are a bit rusty but if I don't get a move on this it will be the first year in quite a long time that I will not be wearing a handspun shawl from last year's fiber.
Shhhh.....don't wake the baby. I can't get anything done when she's awake.

Pup Versus Machine
It's been hard enough keeping her from chewing up all my fancy toys when they are motionless.
Add a little motion and all hell breaks loose. Hopefully by July she will have calmed down or this year's Tour will be a bust. Right now I am going to go dig out a spindle and go sit somewhere she can't reach.

First FO of 2014!
They are done but not without some drama.
When I had them both finished, I put them on and held them up side by side and low and behold one was longer than the other. The EXACT same thing happened with the first pair I made. Now that's just crazy.
I had to rip the long one back and reknit the WHOLE darn thing from the ribbing. From now on, anything I need two of get knit at the same time. My old brain must be having some kind of issue with this row counting thing and I really don't want to keep going there. I also lost one of the double points I was using for them and had to switch to Magic Loop. Magic Loop is by far the way to go with these so that was a boo boo that was at least helpful for a change.
The final verdict is that the yarn is very splitty and difficult to work up in this particular pattern. The increases were murder. The colors were also on the ho hum side and it definitely feels like acrylic. I suppose you get what you pay for but if I make these again, I'm heading for some real wool or at least a wool blend.

Sochi
It didn't take long at all for the Olympic sh*t to hit the fan over on Ravelry once again.
It seems that the moderators for the 2014 Ravellenic group all quit in a huff when they started being trolled by those who were upset that they asked that political and religious chit chat be kept in a thread dedicated to the subject so people didn't have to wade through all thecrap opinions to get to the knitting projects on a knitting site. Jeesh.
Casey did a lot of er, um....adjusting over the weekend but there is still an ugly international squabble fest going on at the moment. I don't know about you but new mods or not, I'm steering clear of the whole mess. That ice isn't safe enough to skate on. What a shame.
