King for a Day

 

Since it's Spooky Season and I'm still on Pup watch, I spent the day with this guy.

He introduced me to her....

...and It. One and Two. I'm a newbie to the whole horror movie genre and I'm not sure this was a good place to start but...

...I did like this one. Of course, I watched them all in the way that drives The Mister nuts. With my eyes on my knitting for the most part. It's the only way. 

Speaking of knitting, I got the front band finished on the gray blob but I can't celebrate yet because I still have to figure out how to bind off double knitting. 

And....I got everything sorted out on the loom and can now start threading. 

I think I'll do it tomorrow while I "watch" this guy. This one I've seen before. This one I like.

Piling Up

 

Two weeks of down time hasn't been all bad. I've worked my way through a lot of Halloween movies. Things are starting to pile up at the door though. I've got the things I need for the holiday cards and for soap making (!) waiting for the all clear from the vet on Wednesday to let Pup back into her normal routine. 

Since my little loom is in the living area, I did break into the box with the new heddles. I thought that I would hate them but I like them. I might have to think about replacing all of them one day. 

I even got The Mister to help me carry the new warp over to the loom and lay it in place. All the things that come next will have to wait. I don't have the patience for it right now. 

It's been like living with a nauughty toddler for the past week. Pup thinks she can hide under the couch quilt and I won't find her to put on the dreaded zoot suit that protects her stitches from her scratching at them. I know all that hair growing back has to itch but I'm really not in the mood for anymore complications. 

We did get her out for a few minutes again yesterday morning so I could go to the Farmer's Market. I padded her shirt so I could put her harness on long enough to pick up some squash and corn and she behaved better than she did on Friday. I know she's bored. I know I'm bored. We are ALL ready for this adventure to be over. 

Well, That Didn't Work

 

Because of where Pup's incision is located she can't wear a collar or her harness so we've been stuck inside for days now. It wasn't so bad when it was raining but now that we've got some dry weather we all needed to get out. She likes the stroller we got her after her hip surgery and rides in it just fine when she's leashed in but it seems she does NOT like it when we zip up the front so she can't jump out. Our outing to the boardwalk yesterday was very short lived I'm sad to say. 

I had already set up the day's busy work so I can sit on the floor next to her making sure those stitches stay where they are supposed to. When she had her hip done they had glued it together so we didn't have the same issue. She also wasn't feeling like jumping all over the place like she is now. We are both glad to see her feeling like her old self again but it sure has been a tough week trying to keep up with her. 

All's Well That Ends Well

 

After a flurry of home remodeling, you might have been wondering why The Mister and I have been doing pretty much nothing for a few weeks now when there is still so much to be done. That hole in the ceiling and leaky pipe isn't going to fix itself. In his down time, The Mister, much to my dismay, finished my new Halloween puzzle. I never put in one piece.

I've been doing a few things here and there but mainly sitting in the living area and working on my own puzzle because......

....I never said anything up until now but last Wednesday Pup had some pretty serious surgery. She had a lump on her neck that kept getting bigger and bigger. After a needle biopsy a week before, it was determined that it was most likely the Big C so a big chunk of her had to come out. She's got a neck and back full of stitches and not at all happy about it so we have to watch her closely to make sure she doesn't do anything stupid with them until they come out. Yesterday we got the biopsy results from all the tissue they took and she does NOT have cancer after all. The lump had something to do with sweat glands and is completely benign. Whew. It's been quite the few weeks here of worrying and watching but we're finally breathing a sigh of relief.

We've still got until this Wednesday before all those awful stitches come out so I bought The Mister another autumn puzzle to keep him occupied. We take turns on Pup watch and it's been hard to do much of anything else. 

Stripes or Plaid

 

I finished winding the warp for the towels that were supposed to be my summer project but I ran into a slight problem.

I'm really pushing the limit to what my little loom can do so when I did the heddle count for this particular draft I realized I was 13 short. Heddles are those metal things with slots that you stick the yarn through. The kind I have on the Wolf Pup are discontinued so I had to order some different ones. Now it all sits and waits until they get here.

On the bright side, this will give me time to decide whether I want to weave towel number 2 which is a stripe pattern or number 3 which is the plaid. Number 2 has only one color weft so it will be easier and faster than all those color changes in Number 3. I like the plaid more but I'm feeling lazy after all those color changes I had to deal with in the Big Sock Scarf adventure. Maybe a bit more time will get me motivated again. We'll see. 

Wednesday WIPs

 

The heels are being turned on the Pairfect twins.

I've seemed to have gotten over the rough spot in the front band knitting on the gray blob. That V neck area was a killer. I'm on the straight and narrow now heading to the bottom ribbing but I'm not out of the woods yet. Seven more inches or so shall tell the tale but I'm not getting too excited just yet. Stuff happens.

I am battling a wicked case of startitis. I even wound up that ruby colored handspun in hopes of getting a shawl on the needles in the near future. Seven more inches of gray and I most certainly will. 

And....I most definitely will be picking up Bon Amie again. This is the year it will be finished. Well, maybe not 2024 since it's almost over but 2025 for sure. 

Tiny Needle Tuesday: October

 

It was a dark and gloomy week here so Peter Rabbit, with all those tiny and tedious color changes, got no attention. I did spend a lot of time with Matter's Choice and have practically finished the one side. In dim light, this black on white was no trouble at all to see or stitch.

It will be put away for the month of October so I can work on my witch sampler. I think my goal this year will be to finish that top box.

I didn't get Dear Jane assembled but I did get the pieces covered. It's going to need some appliqueing so I've got to get the foundation done first. 

And...it did work to put Patchwork of the Crosses on my Dear Jane work table. I've now got some assembly going on and a big pile of crosses. The top two will need eight pieces to finish them off and then I get to decide what I'm going to applique them down on. I better start shopping because I know I don't have anything in the stash that will work.
