Mother of the Bride

Daughter is getting married tomorrow. I can't even begin to explain how overwhelming all this is. I am so tired. It's been a solid year of intense planning and it's finally coming to a very welcome conclusion. I'm going to have lots of things to share about this weekend but right now, I've got nothing. I am totally out of creative gas. Totally.

On Display

This is the second time I have been to a Virginia mall recently and both times I have found really cool knitting themed displays.



I couldn't walk past these big balls without stopping for a look.



Those are some really big needles. I did wonder why there was only one to be seen. The giant cabled afghans that acted as a backdrop were really beautiful. Someone made them but I am pretty sure it wasn't these dummies.

One Thing Leads to Another

While I was hanging around Best Buy waiting for the verdict on my laptop, I made the mistake of browsing in the camera aisle. After spending $200 for virus removal, it seemed to make no sense to buy a new camera but I did it anyway. I did the awful thing of applying for a Best Buy card to get a discount and to let me make payments on my new little toy since I am B.R.O.K.E. I have two weddings in the next few weeks and really needed a photo upgrade since my little cheapo Kodak has been unrealiable, but I was really thinking of the MD Sheep and Wool Fest. This baby has 21X zoom. This year, I WILL get photos of those sheepdogs in action. Plus I can kinear Hot Pants from a safe distance-if he chooses to show up again this year. Hijacked

My computer has a little virus issue. If you are reading this, it is because I have not got it cleared up in time for a daily post. Hopefully, I will be back soon if The Geek Squad can do their stuff. Until then, knit on and carry yarn.

Rubber Sole Part 2

I've got a lot of flip flops done.



Twelve pairs if you count the pair I made after taking these pictures this afternoon. At only one pair a day, I am keeping on schedule and not getting too sick of them. I can surely say however, that crochet is not my thing.

Wedding Bells

Yesterday we made a mad dash to Kleinfeld's in NYC to pick up Daughter's wedding dress. We stopped at almost every rest stop from here to New York. My tummy was in turmoil.

I had to face my biggest fear-The Lincoln Tunnel once again. I HATE tunnels. My panic attack started the day before.

I love rest stop food but a lonely plain potato and a diet Coke was the only thing I dared put in my stomach. It's a long ride between rest stops.

After making the pickup, I felt much better. I actually felt sad to have this ten month journey end.

I was brave enough to hang my head out the window and gawk at Times Square as we whizzed past.

In spite of my general Mother of the Bride hysteria, I did make good use of the car ride by getting a few more flip flops done. This time next week, Daughter's wedding will be over and Son's will just be on the horizon. It's a good thing, too. I would hate to think what might have happened if I was forced to go cold turkey on this wedding stuff. As it is, it's wedding, wedding, Thanksgiving, Christmas. By January, I'll be ready for some peace and quiet.

Have Bag Will Travel

Daughter bought me a new knitting bag last weekend. I was hemming and hawing over spending the money and she just went ahead and bought it for me so we could get out of the store and go home.



It is a Gloria Vanderbilt carry on that was on Clearance at Marshall's for $20. It's BIG, just the right size for throwing in all my many small project bags without having to repack them all the time. The best part is that it has little feet so it won't flop over as so many knitting bags do. It's perfect for Knit Night-or for packing up and taking to New York City when we are picking her wedding dress from Kleinfelds. In fact, that's where me and the new bag are today!
