Oh, Hail...
It's been quite the 48 hours around here weather wise. We've been dodging severe thunderstorms with a couple of tornado warnings thrown in for good measure. The Mister and I had NO sleep on Friday night. After the storms rolled out at midnight we had a wind warning. We're both really freaky about the trees after that last storm that did in several houses in the area. We tried to sleep downstairs but the minute I turned out the light a big spider walked across the floor and that was it for me and my air mattress. It was just easier to stay up and pace around the house all night. Then yesterday afternoon the storms brought hail. Like I said it's been crazy.
I was looking forward to a free weekend before we start the bathroom tiling on Monday. I had bought this pattern and was hoping for some time in the sewing room. Didn't happen. I was a complete zombie all day.
Last Saturday, while The Mister was gone, I had tried to make a Barbie dress using a pattern from the internet. That lumpy bodice is what happened. Since then I've done some research about how to go about all this teeny tiny sewing in an entirely different way. I bought a big roll of iron on interfacing hoping that will keep my machine from eating the little pieces. I also saw a trick that has you sew the lining to the right side fabric before you even cut out the pattern. I have no idea if any of this will work but I won't know until next weekend.
Taylor Barbie will just have to wait for better weather to get some new clothes. Right now I've got her in something similar to what the real Taylor had on for a Mother's Day luncheon in NYC. I didn't make this one. It came from far away across the sea where I used to be able to get very well made and very affordable Barbie clothes before someone thought it was a good idea to play chicken with tariffs.
Wow --- the weather! I think the spider might have caused me to relocate, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a smart look on the pattern --- the black hat is a great touch.
I will tell you one thing. Your Barbies live the life!!! Everyone should have it so good. LOL
ReplyDeleteHope the weather calms down for you. We didn't get NEAR the nasties that were supposed to hit and we are thankful for that.
You almost make me want to start making doll clothes again - but then I remember how fiddly they are and I come to my senses!
ReplyDeleteWe had quite a bit of rain, but nothing like your awful weather. I hope things calm down, you can get some sleep, and Barbie can get some new clothes.
ReplyDeleteTerrors inside and out!!! I was awakened this morning bc of a cockroach running up my arm while I was blissfully sleeping at 4:30am! Nothing like a dose of adrenaline! lol the doll clothes project will be interesting!
