Friday Fluff
In case you are wondering how Wonky yarn is made, this is how. That little batt I made last week gets torn up and spun in sections without me paying a whole lot of attention to what is going on. It's about as mindless as it gets and the resulting yarn sure looks like it when it's done.
I can make much better yarn when it's professionally processed like this Shaniko fiber that just arrived. If fiber can be sexy this one sure is. Look at that black net bag it came in. Yowza. It's Peaches and Cream from Cashmere and Coconuts, an Etsy vendor. Shaniko is a cross between Merino and Rambouillet and is grown primarily out west.
I also bought 4 more ounces of undyed BFL that will one day be dyed in Barbie colors so I can finish that crochet project I started.
I'm still going to have to adjust my expectations. 9 squares and that little bit left in the ball amount to more than 4 ounces of fiber so the most I can get out of the new braid is 10 or 11 more squares. I'm thinking a Granny Square bag maybe? I'll have to investigate.
I don't spin, but even I can see how sexy that new fiber is. Just lovely!
ReplyDeleteLovely spinning! The new Shaniko fiber is gorgeous; can't wait to hear how it spins. It is amazing how much more yarn is used up in crochet than knitting!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful fluff. Makes me want my spinning wheel back. :-) That Shaniko braid is so lovely.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
