A Day Off
We planned on doing nothing yesterday. Before it got too hot we wanted to go to the Farmer's Market but that was all that was on the agenda...until Friday night.
We had a rip snorter of a thunderstorm come through that broke the tops off of several of those tall tress. These are not small branches. They are much bigger than the one that came down on Thursday and that was a big one. The Mister's day off included clearing all the debris out of the yard and it was a lot. A house down the road had a crane removing a tree from it and a car by the Farmer's Market had been crushed by a fallen limb. Too much drama but we still made out better than those folks out west so no complaints.
The waterlilies were in bloom at the koi pond. The beach was in full swing as it was training day. All of the kids who work there in the summer were in uniform and walking through their assignments. Next weekend the place will be crawling with tourists I'm afraid. It won't be much fun to be out and about until the beach closes again.
The Farmer's Market yielded quite a few goodies this week. I bought The Mister a small Blackstone griddle for Father's Day so he's already stocking up on sausage even though it won't be here until next week. My thought was to get him more involved with cooking dinner. I'm so over it.
Sorry about those storms and all the big branches, but those sausages do look good! That's clever to get him involved with dinner; let us know how that works out.
ReplyDeleteNice purchases at the Farmer's Market. Those trees sound like a giant pain in the you know what - how scary that they just fall down all the time.
ReplyDeleteBack when Dave and I were looking at houses, we were initially looking in an area he knew well (family cottage there). We got priced out which is why we ended up here - but after we moved I was so glad. The area he wanted is a tourist area and I just don't think I would have enjoyed it. It's so much more peaceful here.
ReplyDeleteBeen a long time since I've known someone to use "rip-snorter." That must have been quite a storm.
ReplyDeleteI've been over cooking dinner for SO long. I would, however, chomp into that glazed bun there on the side...
Looks like a good day for a farmer's market! Wow--you need those trees down pronto!!!
ReplyDeleteOh man! So sorry about the branches again. We have severe storms just southwest of us that should be here in an hour or two. Praying for just thunder, lightening and wind and no tornadoes. We've had enough of those already.
ReplyDeleteYour market haul looks delicious. Yum!
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
