Friday Fluff

The fluff corner saw a bit of action this week. The Mister and I have fallen into an early morning routine that involves him watching The Weather Channel and working on his latest puzzle and me sitting in the rocker over by my wheels. As long as he is sitting there drinking his coffee, I can work on my handspun projects. I got the Maine Lobster Corridale finished this week. I'll rest it now for a few days before I ply it so it can calm down.

The Pi Shawl and the wonky hat look like this now. The wonky hat had some drama with the brim. I had planned on lining it but it's too snug on my head. I pulled out the provisional cast on and started ribbing it but I'm running out of yarn. It's not a big problem. I'll just have to spin some more. I've got plenty of that merino left.

I've got the same yarn chicken problem going on with the granny squares. I was having so much fun making them that I didn't notice that I'm running out of yarn. I don't have any more of this fiber in that colorway but I do have a skein of the same fiber in blues and greens that was dyed and spun at the same time.

All of that is fun for a few minutes but here is how I'm spending most of my time. Cutting cement board out in the driveway for the bathroom floor. The Mister cuts while I do the grunt work and spray it with water to keep the dust down. We started out with knives but moved on to power tools which make an even bigger mess. This is one of my least favorite things to do. I hate that heavy backer board.

My reward for frying in the hot sun all morning was a walk down by the water in the late afternoon. The cool breeze coming off the bay was just what I needed. An icy cold gin and tonic was another thing I could have used but I didn't think to pack one. I told The Mister that if he wanted my help today we better be out there working before that sun hits its zenith. My frying days are over.

  2. Your projects are all coming along nicely, even the bathroom. If you take a walk today, don't forget the g&t!

  3. I don't do well in the sun anymore either! Afternoons are for inside only! The granny squares look great and the other colorway will complement it very well!

  5. Gorgeous fiber and squares. I can't imagine working in the heat, especially if you have humidity to go with it. How I would love some water to walk next too.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy
