Wednesday WIPs

It was a disastrous week for my stocking.

I hate turning corners with colorwork so my Magic Loop method was annoying me. I had the bright idea to buy one of these itty bitty 10 inch circs. I switched over and the learning curve was pretty steep. Those little needles are awkward. Even worse, my gauge was off and the new section ballooned out and looked stupid. Off to the frog pond with 4 days of work.

I pulled an all nighter, watching episodes of Desperate Housewives and furiously knit it back to where it was. Lesson learned. You can't switch horses in mid stream. I'll try that very expensive needle again with the next stocking.

  1. Sorry you had such trouble with the new needle. I knit all my socks on a 9 inch Chai Goo circular. I used to be a confirmed magic loop knitter, but once I started with the 9 inch I cannot go back. There is a learning curve with them and at first they feel strange, but now I love using them.

  2. I've never tried those small circulars but I just imagine my hands cramping with hardly any needles to hold on to. Sorry you had to rip out but your stocking is really looking great now!

  3. I have tried a 9" Chai Goo circular for socks, but it is way too awkward for me...or maybe my hands are just too big?

  4. I could never get the hang of those shorty circulars

  5. I did the same with a 9 inch Chai Goo as Ruth and I loved the leg section but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to turn the heel, (I prefer the eye of partridge heel), with them.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  7. I found the little circ difficult to use. The tips just are long enough for my hands.

  8. Yep, those short circulars look like the answer to lots of problems in their little package...
