Carrying On

Daughter gave me this ages ago and it hangs in my sewing room. I think it was the general consensus yesterday among us fiber folk. We are so lucky to have a craft and a purpose that transcends all the noise and links us with a past and hopefully to a future.

I took that advice to heart and packed up my travel projects to work on while we ran errands. No more doom scrolling for me.

The Mister needed a new phone so Pup and I sat in the car while he hashed out the details with Verizon. We had to find a nice shady spot since once again it was in the 80's.

The Static twins got their heels flap almost finished. I was happy to see they are still matchy matchy or as matchy as they can be seeing they are Static which is not very matchy at all.

Someone asked me a while ago how I got them matchy matchy and this photo explains it all. I divide the 100 gram ball in half then roll up little balls with the end and keep rolling one until I find a spot that matches the other. I usually try to find the lightest color change since it's easiest on the eyes. Then I clip the two together and roll the little balls out until I get to one of the ends where I snip them off. Then the trick is casting them on at the same time so you start your long tail at the exact same spot. For a better explanation with more photos you can find another blog post of mine about the process here

  1. I'm really liking those static socks. The color changes are great. I do pretty much the same thing when trying to get the yarn matchy-matchy.
I can't believe it's in the 80's there. We had frost on the grass this morning although it did get into the 50's this afternoon. I think our beautiful October weather is done. More rain is predicted for later in the week, which we're still needing so that's great.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  2. Good advice; I have one that says "Keep Calm and Carry Yarn". We may all get a lot more making accomplished in the next four years!

  4. The socks look great! The hurricane by Cuba is sending rain toward us - but it is better than flooding and wind! Today is too humid to be outdoors!

  5. Pretty socks! Yesterday’s high temperature was 29°F and adding windchill it felt like 9°F. I soak up some of your heat for me.

    1. I like Static better. I love Felici stripes but Static is just a better yarn base. I really like the feel of it.
