Snip Snip
I said I was going to take the whole weekend off and loll around but then I remembered football season was coming to a close meaning my precious Sunday me time was going to disappear. I had one important job that needed to be done and I need lots of quiet time to do it.
I used the crochet method of reinforcement since the yarn was so bulky and it took forever.
It didn't help that I couldn't find one decent crochet hook in the whole house. I have no idea what I did with all mine. I could find this set of Knit Picks hooks but I'm not a fan though they are pretty.
I still have the giant sleeve steeks to do but I am going to use the back stitch method on them instead. In case you are wondering what you are looking at.....you knit both sleeve tops at the same time in the round and then cut them apart. Again....not a fan.
The good news is that it looks like it will fit. If Dumpy Debbie here can fit into it so can I.
The bad news is that this is all I have left of the main color that is used for the front placket. It isn't a very big area and the collar is actually in another color so it just might work. I'm hoping.

Oh you are so brave. There is no way I could possible cut into that. I can't see steeks ever being in my future.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for you that it all works. I'm sure it will, you're so good at all of this.
Blessings,
Betsy
Gah. That always scares me to bits!
ReplyDeleteI have never steeked. The whole idea freaks me out! You are a brave woman and Lofoten is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteWOW! This is a gorgeous sweater--hurry and finish it so you can wear it this winter--in fact, we are having such a cold spell, I could wear it! lol You did a great job on this-here's hoping you beat the game of yarn chicken! (I've never seen the sleeves knit that way!)
ReplyDeleteDeb, that steering is so cool, but I have never tried it. If you aren't a fan and you are that wonderful a knitter, I don't think I'll try it. I LOVE the sweater. If my comments were weird recently it is because I had to use my phone in the dark, on my side of the bed to read my blog pals and reply last night!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I’ve ever steeked was a swatch at a steeking class. Your sweater is a beauty: I hope you have enough yarn to do the front placket.
ReplyDeleteSounds scary to me...but the sweater is beautiful! Good thing you know what you are doing:)
ReplyDeleteYou are SO brave. I am terrified of steaking -- and dread the tedium of securing the fabric beforehand. But your sweater is gorgeous and it will be totally worth all the work!
ReplyDeleteSure hope you end up with enough yarn. There's no way I'll ever steek any thing. I'm not as brave or talented as you are!
