Falling
All summer I can't wait for fall to get here and.....then I remember how much work it is.
If you want to know why I never get much done on any of my November projects, this is why. The mask is for the dust. The drought we've been experiencing is making a hard job even harder.
Brutus, our riding mower, is the real hero here. He does a great job of putting the leaves in big piles so we can rake them up and then drag them away into the woods.
Trying to keep up has been hard and we've still got a lot up there that need to come down. We try to get out there every other day. We should be done by Thanksgiving. At least I hope so. This has been one crazy fall weather-wise. It's been in the 80's again this week. Ugh.
My husband did our latest batch of leaves last week while I had laundry hanging outside on the line. I didn't think about it at the time but I had to rewash all of it because it was coated with dust. We really need some/lots of rain!
ReplyDeleteOh, lawns can be so hard to keep up with! What a beautiful view, though!
ReplyDeleteWe finally got rain last week and it's rained about every other day since then. Finally the dust has gone down a bit here. I absolutely LOVE the smell of fall leaves but I do not miss raking them all up. I drove by our old house here that we sold when we moved to Spokane 30+ years ago. The big maple tree that we would rake 125+ bags from every year is still there and even bigger! I would hate to have to clean those up. Condo life is very good!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
I only have the one tree, and it mostly falls on garden, so I leave it. However, since we have cut down the mulberries on the fence line, I noticed a lot more of the maple leaves from the neighbour behind us blow into our yard. I'm hoping I get enough to make some leaf mould for the gardens!
ReplyDeleteYou're right! As soon as you think you 've got everything raked up, the wind blows down a lot more leaves.
