Derailed

The gorgeous lace scarf I recently finished was supposed to be a gift for a twenty something family member. After careful consideration, it was decided by me and the gifter-to-be that lace and twenty year olds is not a good match. Correct us if we are wrong, but what would a young person do with something like this?

Yes, it is ethereally beautiful when held out or carefully draped, but when you tie it or wrap it around it around your neck it loses all of its charm and looks like a tangle of very fine, slightly fuzzy string. So it's back to the drawing board for this particular project. We still want lace, but lace that is really lace, meaning something more like a wrap than a scarf.

  1. Can you drape it across your shoulders sort of like a pashmina scarf?? Is it wide enough for that? Beautiful work!

  2. Hmm.. I think it depends on the 20-something. I would have loved something like that at 20-something - but most of my friends would not.

Most of my friends now (who are still 20-something) are bugging me for "those triangle scarves you wear"
