Wednesday WIPs

I managed a couple more blue stripes on the Punch Bug Twofers this week.

The Arne and Carlos Pairfect has had its heel turned and is on the way down the foot.

In the "I can't believe my eyes" category I have the Statics which I couldn't match but look pretty darn matchy matchy to me at the moment. I have no idea how that happened but I have to say I love the colors and texture of this yarn. I may need to buy more.

Festive Doodle has come to an interesting colorwork section and is starting to look more and more like the sweater it will someday be. My only regret with this one is that I stuck to the designer's colorway and I think this could have been a really spectacular use of all my leftover Palette in crazy random colors. Right?

And finally, I got two more pattern repeats done on the thrummed mittens but I'm afraid I managed to knit a hole in my finger this week so progress will be slow going for a while. A small piece of electrical tape works wonders but maybe it's time to give my poor fingers a rest. Compulsive stress knitting is apparently dangerous for the digits.

Tiny Needle Tuesday

I'm shocked-shocked I tell you, that I have so much stitching to show for this week but I have. I managed the gooses' middle section which is hard to see because it is white. He's one big honking goose. He covers 6 grid blocks which makes him 600 stitches. Golly.

I also got the outline done on the center motif and the right hand corner done on the Village Quaker.

I am down to only eight more blocks to go on the squares quilt. Single digits. Yay.

I also have almost one more row on the hexie runner done. I have no idea how I managed to find the time or the inclination to get so much done this week. I surprised myself.

Hippity Hoppity

Other than a lovely family Zoom with the Grands, Easter was another sad, dismal affair so I decided to spoil myself last week and buy stuff. Maybe the bunny didn't deliver this year but Knit Picks did. I can't believe how fast they got this here. It's for man socks. It's all willy nilly yarn with nothing to match. Miles of mindless knitting. Yay.

Every time we walk past a certain beach house I have to stand and listen to their bamboo chimes. Not anymore. I have my own right outside the deck door. You can see me in the glass taking the photo looking very ghostly. I like that. I feel pretty ghostly these days.

I had to retire Dad's old iron that I've been using because I dropped it one too many times and it won't stay on. Don't tell The Mister but I also dinged up the new laminate floor in the sewing room with it so I thought I better replace it with an itty bitty one. I can't believe the prices of full size irons. It's a good thing I didn't want one.

Since I finished the fruit puzzle while I whipped up a very uninspiring Easter dinner out of odds and ends....

.....I treated myself to another of the tiny puzzles. I may start this one. I may not. In a few weeks we may be back in business on the kitchen remodel. Come May first we'll be able to be out and about gathering what we need so I may need the puzzle table gone which is fine by me. I'm ready for a new kitchen.

Easter Greetings

Ummmm.........I'm not sure what was going through the minds of our ancestors back in the day but whenever I go looking for a vintage image to post on holidays I always find things like this. Nothing says Happy Easter like babies with hammers-I suppose.

Spring Cleaning

We've been living in a sea of boxes for over a year now. Over time the boxes became heaps and then the heaps became piles. What a mess.

It was cold and windy yesterday and I had planned on spending the day sitting and knitting but my allergies made short work of that dream. As soon as I sat down I was miserable. My dusty old wreck of a living room needed a deep clean and a vicious sort out.

My living room book shelves have been lining the hallway since January 2020. We moved them to do the painting and to refinish the floors and there they still sit. I had boxed up all my unwanted books in anticipation of a trip to donate them and they've been sitting in the living room with the other piles ever since. Yesterday I unboxed them, cleaned and put them back on the shelves just to get them off the floor. I also sorted out all the food stuff-pet and human and shelved it too. No more  boxes. I have quite a pile for recycling.

Before I did any of that though I had to get what was on those shelves off and guess what it was? Yarn. It seems my pandemic yarn buying has been a bit out of control.....and there is more on the way. Yikes.

Blue

I finally started to chop up that pretty blue wool for Rainbow Kitty.

My plan is to echo his big rainbow body so when I run out of this blue another blue won't look so odd.

Rainbow kitty shares the room with the card making stuff and I would have gotten farther on it if I hadn't remembered that Easter is this weekend and I hadn't made a card for Dad's little lady friend yet. I've pushed Easter out of my mind because I've had enough of these sad, lonely Covid holidays. I'm saving my celebrating until we can all be together again. I just don't have any pretend happy left.

An April Fool

I've tried every which way I know to get a matched pair of socks out of that Static yarn I had the disaster with last weekend. Everyone on Ravelry seems to be able to do it but I just can't see the color changes.

I wound off two 50 gram balls of it and had The Mister help me roll it out all over the deck in the daylight to see if I could spot any color patterns. The colors are all so similar. This is the Terrarium colorway btw.

The Mister thought I was crazy but I did spot something I could work with although nothing really matches up. He said why bother. He didn't mind a pair of socks that didn't match so I just gave up and will make these for him.

If all that wasn't foolish enough I thought it would be a good idea to cast them on two at time in the car while we went off for our grocery pick up. It's hard enough to do that all alone in a quiet corner but in a car with a yappy dog and a yappy Mister. Not good-but done.
