Wednesday WIPs

Ta da....another sock finish. I loved working on these in spite of my rather wonky short row heels. The pattern really holds your interest as it changes every nine stitches. I have to thank SoxieKnitter for the pattern. She gifted it to me last year.

I put a big rush on getting them finished so I could free up my tiny Rocket circular needle thinking I could join the Arne and Carlos Christmas Stocking KAL but I crashed and burned. I can NOT do toe up socks. I HATE increases. I tried three times to get that toe looking right and gave up. Instead I bought one of their other stocking patterns and I'll just reverse it to go cuff down. When this year's pattern is complete, I'll reverse it too if it's one I like. Now I'm just waiting for yarn. I'm ditching the Palette. I liked knitting the Cozy Quilt socks with Stroll so I ordered some in holiday colors.

My other knitting plans went off the rails this week when my sister sent me a photo of the crochet poncho she just finished. She calls it her reading poncho and it sparked an idea.

I wake up at all hours of the night anymore and I like to pick up my Kindle and read but my arms and shoulders always get cold. What I needed was a shawl made of soft non-woolly fabric that can live in my bed so I started one using the Lion Brand Prayer Shawl pattern that I've made so many times before with their Home Spun yarn. I'm actually only knitting it at night when in bed as to not have it covered in cat hair. My room is off limits to the kitties. Allergies.

And....once againI fed my insane Croc obsession this week. I was looking for some that were winter themed to use as my indoor Crocs and found these for a reasonable price online in all places at....Walmart.

  2. Your finished socks are gorgeous, almost too pretty to wear! I'm not a fan of toe up either. Who knew they made fairisle crocs!

  3. The Arne and Carlos stockings you make are so pretty--glad you will give this one a go after the fact. The knitted night shawl idea is a good one--I struggle with wanting my arms covered but hands free!!!

  4. The quilty socks are amazing!!! Isn't stroll great? I love knitting with it. But I wish you hadn't shown that poncho... now I'm feeling that itch to start something new.

  6. Those crocs!!! :-) Love them. And those socks are awe inspiring. I'm getting tired of plain vanilla, but when I have a deadline I have to choose fast moving socks. Ha! I have a shawl made from Lion Brand Homespun that I throw around my shoulders in the evenings too. I really love it.
And...I detest toe up socks. I've tried so many times but I have to admit defeat. I just can't increase correctly either.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  7. The finished socks look terrific. The Crocs are so fun. I am not a fan of Palette. The colors are many and beautiful but whenever I've tried to do colorwork the floats on the back show through to the front. Maybe that is just my knitting. Also I think it is itchy. Stroll on the other hand is economical and makes a nice sock or baby sweater.
