I've been staying away from the media to settle my brain. I haven't even turned on the TV or radio since that night. I've been keeping busy instead. More scenery is in the works. That octopus's garden is never ending.
In spite of my media blackout I do know of the passing of Leonard Cohen. His voice was the soundtrack of my life and I am beyond heartbroken. I can't tell you how many times he's whispered Suzanne to me as I took one of my sad walks in the woods. Bird on the Wire was the lullaby I sang to my babies as I rocked them to sleep. My past is slipping away one artist at a time...sigh.
They are for a charity that collects handmade cards to send to nursing homes for the holidays.
I was inspired by the many folks on Ravelry who were giving away patterns for free yesterday in an act of solidarity. It's not much but it's something. At a time when it feels like kindness and empathy don't count anymore, every little bit helps.
Your cards will warm someone's heart.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteMy Friend - I too have taken heart and hope by the designers on Ravelry who are showing us some things we CAN do to offset this horrible thing; (I still can't say the words out loud). Like you I have avoided ALL media like the plague. Love the Leonard Cohen quote.
ReplyDeleteSo sad. He was a true poet. And this of all weeks ...
ReplyDeleteOh, I've been staying away from the TV and radio as well and had not heard of Leonard Cohen's passing. Sad. The quote above is one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteNice to turn your sadness into something meaningful! It will do you and someone else some 'very' good.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to follow your lead and keep busy.....very busy. God Bless Leonard Cohen. Very inspiring words....Thank you for sharing them!
ReplyDeleteThose cards will definitely brighten someone's holiday. They are adorable.
ReplyDeleteGreat example to us all DeB. and the Gingerbread are adorbs
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet little cards. I've been flat on my back all week after my test last week and so have for the most part avoided TV and social media. The little I have read/seen has apalled me with the words being flung around from both sides. It all makes me very sad. Blessings, Betsy
ReplyDeleteThe only TV I watched this week was the Ellen show, I usually never have time to see it but I made a point of it the two afternoons I was home. I will only read DailyKos, nothing else at the moment.
