Learning the Hard Way

It took almost a week for me to work my way through the process of getting all that 8/2 cotton wound onto the loom. Saying it was a bit much for my skill level is an understatement. Nothing prepared me for the tension or the tangling issues. It makes me want to run back to some good old Red Heart and make a few more pillow covers.

It's wound on but it is still not through the heddles or the reed. It's going to take me a while to work up the courage to fiddle with it again. I don't really need handwoven dish towels, now do I?

  1. There's one thing I'm completely sure of and that's that I will never try this. It just looks way to complicated.

  6. Joe wove a fine silk fabric to make waistcoats for the men of the bridal party for our wedding. I helped him set up the loom for that and it was a nightmare! Like you say, tangles and breakages left right and centre. I thoroughly sympathise, but it will get better :)

  7. Don't run! you can do it. Though I will admit the first picture made me not want to start playing with my loom.
