A while ago I bought some cotton for weaving dish towels. I thought I had done a good job of figuring out how much I would need.
I bought a big cone of white for the warp and lots of little cones of colorful cotton for the weft.
A few weeks ago, I got to work tying off groups of twenty so I could keep track of the 400 odd ends I needed.
Uh oh...I was only up to sixty ends and I had already used a lot of the white.
By the time I was only up to my first hundred, I was out of white. Of course I went and ordered more but as soon as I hit the submit button I realized that once again, I hadn't ordered enough. 400 ends times 10 yards is a lot of cotton-why didn't I figure this out sooner?
I was too embarrassed to put in another order on the very same day, so I had to figure out another way to solve this mess. Tomorrow I'll tell you all about it.
