The Fifth

The last time I was able to go to my beloved MDSW was in 2018. It's been five years. FIVE YEARS. In 2019 we had a wedding, 2020 and 2021 were pandemic years, last year we had mange and a dog with a bum hip and this year....sigh. Well, you know. Seeing how this is a special anniversary year and seeing how I really thought I was going to be able makes it especially painful to watch from afar once again.

Oh, well....I suppose I'll just watch this dumba$$ get coronated tomorrow morning instead.

And.......The Mister did get a good report from the doctor but was dismayed to hear he had at least another 4 weeks of serious restrictions ahead of him. That means no leaning forward in a chair to do his painting or other crafty things. He has to maintain more than a 90 degree angle between his torso and his hip at all times. He was encouraged to walk more and to wean himself off of the walker and on to a cane. He does have to keep wearing those battery operated air compression things at night which he HATES. The noise keeps him up. He has to go in for X rays in 4 weeks so we'll know more then. I'm going to be worn to a nub by the time this is all over. C'est la vie.

  1. Hang in there— both you and your mister. It will get better little by little. I recently had knee replacement surgery so I know how exhausting it is for both of you, but things will improve. Tell that mister to get up and move every hour even if it’s just a walk around the room. It’s so important to keep moving. It’s not fun but it gets easier.
I’m going to MDSW tomorrow— my first big outing since surgery a couple months ago. I don’t plan to see everything but I need some wool fumes. Is there anything I can pick up for you? I’m happy to , so just let me know!! Soxieknitter

  2. Looks like you're working on a pretty sock? So sorry you didn't get to the MDSW; hope things work out so you can get to the next one. Glad your DH got a good report, too, and hope that inspires him to get moving! (for your sake as well as his) No coronation watching here since it started at 3 AM our time...hope to see some pictures though.

  3. Glad the report is better than expected even if the recovery is so long!!! This is major surgery! Hope he can start to move around a bit--it will help him sleep better at night! Hang in there!

  4. I'm sorry you didn't make it to the sheep show. But at least the report on the Mister was good. He sounds a lot like my Dad. Absolutely miserable when he's under the weather.
