Look what I woke up to yesterday. My new little garden corner on the deck was attacked. I'm not sure by what but they made one heck of a big mess.
Fingers point to the usual suspects-but really? Really? Was this necessary? I was not happy. The Mister even more so because now we have dirt back down in all the cracks in the deck we had just power washed out last fall.
Luckily, I had not planted my little plants yet. I was too tired to rig up anything to keep them warm so they spent the night on top the refrigerator. I've got some critter netting on the way that I hope will keep them safe when they do go out.
The hero of the day was my little shop vac. It made quick work of the clean up after I had shoveled most of the dirt back in the pots. I had never used it like a blower before but that little thing packs a lot of power.
And....thanks for helping me solve the mystery of the missing tulips. You were all right about the daffodils being spared. Look at this beauty and there's plenty more where it came from.
Raccoon? That would be my guess...or a possum.
ReplyDeleteOh those pesky squirrels - they are darn cute at Squirrelington's but even I admit, they can be a real nuisance. I cleaned out most of my pots yesterday - they are ones I save for annuals, but since we are not sure if we will still be here this summer, I decided to just dump all the soil on the garden - there were an awful lot of "treasures" buried in those pots (empty peanut and walnut shells!)
ReplyDeleteWould your outside kitties have done this?
ReplyDeleteThere was a party on your deck! Squirrels or a Raccoon would be my guess:) Buggers
ReplyDeleteYou'll need to get a trail cam to see who is the culprit. We got one and found a great blue heron trying to eat all our koi. Hope you have better gardening luck! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm all about getting the job done-and sometimes it is messy!-and like a quick easy clean-up solution, too!!!! Beautiful daffodil!
