Remember when our downstairs flooded from the washing machine? I didn't tell you the whole story. That's Hoover sleeping on his bed with his little blankie. It was his fault.
I'm always looking for things to handwash now. I do my little cotton house dresses. They dry in a flash.
My cotton aprons do too. Tea towels and handknit wash cloths also.
I add a bit of lavender to the rinse water and it is heaven to slip on a cool, crisp little dress in the morning. I am hooked. At least for the summer. I discovered by listening to a podcast the other day that I am not alone. Apparently there is a cult of hand washing fanatics. Just go to YouTube and see for yourself.
Where do you find your cotton house dresses? I desperately need some ne wines and I can't sit at my sewing machine right now because of my back. Love the drying rack and may just need to purchase one myself. It would b great for he lake too in the summertime.

Kmart. They are in the pajama section but they look like dresses to me!
DeleteThank you! I'll have to go looking!
DeleteOh my gosh!!! Could Hoover be any cuter! I think he loves his lavender scented blankie!!!
ReplyDeleteI've never minded hand washing. And love drying things on my clothesline. But, I do use the washer and dryer a lot (still trying to figure how just 2 people generate so much laundry - LOL).
ReplyDeleteI think that you are amazing, really you get so much done in a day!
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine the lavender wonder as you pull on a fresh apron...
ReplyDeleteHoover is adorable!
I don't handwash much but my knits (and only cardigans, socks go in the washer), but I hang a tonne of stuff to dry instead of using the dryer. Old Navy stuff has a tendency to shrink badly if you put it in the dryer
ReplyDeleteIn the old house, I had Dave string a line in the basement. Here, who ever lived here before us already put one up (four lines actually!)
I'd have an outdoor line if I could. I grew up with line-dried clothes and I love it!
If we didn't have so many bugs I would have an outdoor line too. I love lined dried linens. It was my mom's therapy.
DeleteOh My goodness. I hope I resist the cult! Im so lazy with laundry. I think I've ironed twice in our married life. We should just donate the iron. My NANA ironed all the time. It was like therapy for her. I didnt get that gene!
ReplyDeleteI iron all of the time! At least twice a week. My dresses and Dennis' shirts.
DeleteI was wondering about those cute housedresses, too! What a wonderful idea of just a drop of lavender. I love that you have ideas that I can actually do - nothing too difficult but very clever!
ReplyDeleteYou still have K-marts? They are a thing of the past here! I miss them.
ReplyDeleteThere is one near Daddio's nursing home in Annapolis. I rarely go in there but when I do I always find something I need!
