The Big Chill

The New Year sure came in with a bang. We had a series of scary thunderstorms on New Year's Eve and now they are calling for a Polar Vortex which is going to put us all in the deep freeze. Seeing that it's been in the high 50's and 60's for the past few weeks, that's going to be quite a jolt to the system. I've been washing my knits. I think it's time to get out the heavy duty sweaters and socks. They are saying there could even be snow on Monday.

Speaking of crazy weather, it was downright balmy for the bay plunge yesterday. I think everyone in town participated this year. The crowd was huge.

I couldn't even get a good shot at them all out there frolicking in the water because they ran so far out that my view was blocked by the crowd and the big wooden pirate ship we have on the shore for the kids to play on. Oh, well. Next year I'll find a better place to perch for the event. Getting too close didn't work out very well.

  1. We're entering the same polar plunge starting tomorrow. We're supposed to have lows in the negatives by the weekend. Yuck. I prefer the 40's and 50's we've been enjoying so far.
The people jumping in the bay. I just plain don't understand them. I would never warm up!
    Happy New Year Debbie.
    Blessings and love,

  2. It was still a bit mild here yesterday, BUT, the winds have been strong. It was howling ALL night long. And yup, we are expecting snow on Monday!

  3. Everyone here has been complaining about the warm weather, but I expect they'll complain more about the cold. You are smart to get those sweaters out and washed!
