I don't like hurricanes as a rule but I really don't like the ones that start with I. Isabelle pushed our beach town two blocks back and Irene gave The Mister and I our biggest scare ever after a night of terror in the downstairs closet listening to the destruction all around us. Irma's not a threat to the Bay but I still have a bad feeling.
We had our first nice day in a while yesterday so I turned off the weather channel that I've been glued to and took a walk through the wetlands.
We have a big town fest on Saturday so they've got the oyster education booth set up. That's a giant pile of oyster shells btw.
That's an oyster incubator. We have a program to repopulate the bay with the yummy little critters.
Speaking of repopulation, we have Purple Martin houses now too. I haven't seen one but I might not recognize one if I did.
No hint of any storm brewing. I hope it stays that way. It's too late for my friends in Florida to hope for the best. I hope you all stay safe wherever you find yourselves. Hurricanes are terrible things.
Last week I was lobbying The Mister to use his inheritance to buy a houseboat but I think I've changed my mind. I'll keep my feet on the ground and my head in the clouds. It's safer that way.
You definitely live in a beautiful area. I would ♥ to move north again. :::sigh:::
ReplyDeleteI am SO OVER hurricanes!
I've never been through a hurricane but have survived several tornadoes close by. I don't know which would be worse. The slow agonizing wait for a hurricane to arrive or no warning at all of tornado but it's over quickly. It's ALL super scary isn't it? Glad you safe and praying for our bloggy friends down south.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Enjoy the town festival-oysters are cool to see but I don't like eating them!
ReplyDeleteWe are in the direct path if it comes up through the middle of the state as they are showing it now....
We have done all we can humanly possible and trust God to protect us.
I've always wanted to live by the ocean, but this does make me glad I don't!
ReplyDeleteOur weekend is supposed to be gorgeous...Irma looks so bad. Very scary. Hoping by the time it comes further North it will just be a mess of rain. Love your pictures!!
ReplyDeleteThis will be my first hurricane and it figures it would have to be a doozy.
ReplyDeleteI see why you aren't fond of the "I" storms. A lovely post. Lots of bits of good in there and best wishes for all.
ReplyDeletePraying for everybody everywhere. GOodness! Your tour was refreshing and much needed. Thanks
